When i saw this film i thought it was great it stars jenny aggutter as the mother and she has three children called Roberta (bobbie) Phylis (Phil) and Peter. The father is taken away because he was accused of giving away government details to someone else and the childrens aunt emma comes to stay (who they do not like) and then they have to play poor for a while so they sell the things that they are not going to need and move to a place in the country called the three chimneys.
After they move there the children grow to love the railway which they get to know the time of one train and wave at the train to send their love to father and an old gentleman waves back. The children make friends with the station porter Mr Perks and their mother starts to write stories to make money and every time she sells a story they can have buns for tea.
The old gentleman the children befriend is actually to do with the railway and the old gentleman helps find a russians the children help stop a train crashing.
The way the acting is done in this film is great and they have done it really well and for Jenny aggutter she is a great actor and she plays the mum well. The actors who play the children were chosen really well.
The film is for all the family, children of any age could watch this. The film looks in the early victorian era maybe later its not set in todays era.
The railway children is a great family movie and i have watched the original version and the remake I would reccommend watching this film. What i liked about the film was when the mother and children moved the country and the children found things to do and always waved to the same train and made friends with an old gentleman who rode on the train. Ialso liked the part where they saved the train from crashing.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, please let me know and I'll re-rate.

I know you are new and it is difficult at first but a review needs to be more thn a plot summary. Tell us about the acting, the cinematography(how the film looks) who it is suitble for. Also with a DVD you need to say a little bit about the extras if there are ny. Hope this helps
Advantages: An overall classic that is never too boring to watch again and again Disadvantages: Maybe not for everybody, really for people who enjoy a family film with excitement and adventure.
