When i first watched this film, i found that it was easy to get into, and i found myself not wanting to pause it so i could make a cup of tea or a sandwich, so i would definately recomend having a cuppa made and all snacks at hand so you dont need to leave the sofa. I watched this film with my two boys, 5 and 9 yrs, and they also very much enjoyed it. We as a family have watch this film several times and my eldest son also took it to school for wet play and he and his friends sat and watched it whilst having their lunch. I have read the book and thought it was very much alike and feel that it couldnt have been produced any better.

This told me NOTHING AT ALL about the film. There's also two versions, one made in 1970 and one made in 2000 for TV. To which are you referring? And what about the characters, plot, setting, period? If I knew nothing at all about this film I would have finished reading this review none the wiser. Sorry, but this gets the thumbs down from me.
Advantages: It is a great watch Disadvantages: None
