Teen actress Anne Hathaway gives an endearing performance in Garry Marshall's delightful Disney comedy, THE PRINCESS DIARIES. Assisted by such seasoned pros as Julie Andrews and...
more...Hector Elizondo (a Marshall regular), Hathaway shines here in her first major film role. She plays Mia, a high school misfit who has resigned herself to social invisibility. Mia and her best friend, Lilly (Heather Matarazzo), are outcasts. While Lilly relishes the role, Mia just wishes a cute popular boy she likes, Josh (Erik von Detten), would notice her. Mia's life changes dramatically when her grandmother (Andrews) contacts her and Mia finds out she is heir to the throne of Genovia, a small European country between France and Spain. The klutzy, socially awkward girl doesn't think she's up to the job, but she agrees to be coached in regal manners by her grandmother before deciding if she wants to become a princess. Marshall (PRETTY WOMAN) is clearly in his element directing this light, charming teen comedy. Andrews, perfectly cast as Queen Clarisse Renaldi, makes her character seem both imperious and caring. Hathaway's performance and the presence of teen pop star Mandy Moore assure that young girls, in particular, will enjoy the film.

"A hip, funny and moving modern day fairy tale from the director of pretty woman"

The original singing nun takes on the role of queen of an obscure european country.
This is the beutiful and heart warming story of Mia Thermopalis (Anne Hathaway) and her crush on popular boy and best friends brother it takes twists and turns as Mia finds out that she is indeed a princess! when her grandmother (Julie Andrews) turns up to meet Mia.
This film has some great scenes and some real feel good moments; the transformation from dorky plain monowbrowed invisable school girl in to pretty princess with broken hairbrushes and cucumber slices.
I could go on about all the great bits but i wont as you should experience them for yourself.

A great supporting cast including Hector Elizondo and Heather Matarazzo realy bring this film together I suppose that american pop princess mandy moore needs a mention for her rendition of stupid cupid she makes her character Lana someone you love to hate!

Length aprox 115 mins

It is a disney film that some people may be a little sceptical about but i loved it and im sure that everone else will!

The films soundtrack is fab including songs like "supergirl" by Krystal and "miracles happen" by Myra.

It truly is a feelgood movie fine holiday fun for all the family
