The Plot ========== Since finding out she is heir to the throne of "Genovia", Princess Mia has finished her education and arrives in Genovia for the first time. She soon discovers that she Genovian law requires to be married in order to assume her rightful role as Queen and she has 30 days to do this.
With the help of her Grandmother, her Grandmother's assistant and her friend Lily (all in the previous film) she proceeds to attempt to find a husband with comical consequences...
Caught in a love triangle between the man who has agreed to marry her and the man who is trying to steal her throne, Princess Mia has to decide what to do and prove to all of Genovia that she is ready and fit to receive the crown.
Blurb on back cover ================ "Starring the irresistible Anne Hathaway (ELLA ENCHANTED) and Academy AwardŽ winner Julie Andrews (Best Actress, MARY POPPINS, 1964), this modern-day fairy tale picks up right where THE PRINCESS DIARIES left off! As future queen of Genovia, Princess Mia (Hathaway) has everything a girl could want -- except the magical romance she's always dreamed of. But soon, Mia's shocked to discover that she needs to get married right now or her family will lose the crown! Comic complications rule the day in this delightful family story about finding out who you really are and discovering what it takes to make your dreams come true!"

My thoughts ========== I enjoyed this film more than my husband (I think it's more of a girly film). I think most of us can empathise with the comical mishaps Mia encounters which help us to feel more emotionally involved with the film. Having said this, I think that many people would find it too predictable. I thought the film was enjoyable and funny and although it was sometimes over the top, I think this added to it rather than detracting.
Anne Hathaway (who also stars in "The Princess Diaries" and "Ella Enchanted") acts well overall and I like the fact she is unafraid to play the geek or the oddball. She doesn't mind making herself look stupid and that helps in this film. In addition, Julie Andrews puts in a spectacular performance as Queen Clarice and I think that in this film, much better use is made of her talent than in the previous film.
Conclusion ========= Overall this is an enjoyable and entertaining film. I don't think it would appeal to everyone so I would recommend it mainly for those who like chick flicks or are younger. I would say it is worth buying if you fall into those categories otherwise I would only recommend it for rental viewing.

Advantages: Fairytale story of poor to princess, every girls dream, also good comedy value Disadvantages: seem to have heard the story line before, very similar to all other modern cinderella stories.
