Haha, okay, I'll have to explain my title - last year, i was one of the ten leaders that took 30 kids into our care for a youth camp. This involved looking after this set of rascals for 4 days and 3 nights. The theme of the camp ended up being Moses, Prince of Egpyt, or as we put it, "WDMD?" which stands for "What Did Moses Do?" We consequently initiated the imagination of these teenagers by showing them this film. The fun bit comes when each group of kids has to come up with a talent show play based on what they've learnt from the camp - my group won with the play entitled "Moses, Prince of Liverpool" where The scouser Moses finds out that he is really a Mancunian scally, and leads his fellow scallies back to Manchester across the River Mersey! It made fantastic humour! Especially the scene of Moses and the Burning Bin...but I digress....
~ The Prince of Egypt ~
This is a story of the life of a Jew called Moses. He was rescued at a young age from persecution by the lovely princess of Egypt and consequently became royalty. When he discovers his real background, he falls out with his family, accidently kills someone, then flees to the desert where he claimed sanctuary for a long time. But before long, God called him to his mission, and he went back to Egypt to free his people.
There are some brilliant scenes in this film. Very vibrant and imaginative scenes as well! One that springs to mind is that of the chariot race right at the beginning where Moses and his brother basically wreck the entire city by having a bit of fun. Really funny and exciting, up until they get told off by their Dad. Young viewers will empathise with them here! :) There's also the song called "Heaven's Eyes" which is really good, and is done when Moses reaches the desert and is getting used to the whole fleeing thing. The community settlement he finds encourages him with this song, and, as with Disney tradition, they break into song and dance. It's really inspiring! :)
The fun bit comes when you actually compare the real story of Moses, with the one depicted here. There are certain parts missed out, and lots of bits and pieces through in to make it more exciting. For example, the "Desert Flower", who later turns out to be related to Moses did not in the real story get captured and made to dance in front of the Pharoah for fun. Just little things, not much. I wouldn't take the film's version for real, but I've got to admit that they did a graet job putting it together! :)
Ooh, the animation for this was fantastic! The bit where they cross the Red sea is amazing! The sea creatures in the wall of sea make it so much more intense, giving the water an almost real feel. It's truely uplifting! :) Definately my favourite bit! :)
The soundtrack for this is also fantastic! The songs are inspiring, although may not be everyone's cup of tea. Songs include "If you believe" which speaks of miracles happening as long you believe they will. "Heaven's Eyes" is just a happy dancy song. :) The orchestral parts just fill you with awe, as does the whole film really.
So yeah, I recommend it mucho. Go and see this amazing story. I could put on a rendition of Moses, Prince of Liverpool for you.....but maybe I won't let you suffer through it. The burning bin bit was great though, and God was contacted via God2Me mobile phone....... :)
Advantages: Excellent story line, People of all ages can watch this Disadvantages: None
I recently watched the 'Prince of Egypt' on sky, it is about two brothers who are brought separately each have their own paths to follow. One of the brothers is the leader of Egypt and the other is the leader of the people in Egypt. This film shows us the historical and biblical story of Moses.
This film is great for children as it shows them reglion, that they might never understand as young people. It has great Animation and tells the story really ... ...as a family video to the dubious, liberal values of more recent Disney offerings. There are some especially wonderful moments, such as the Burning Bush and the crossing of the Red Sea.
All I can really say that Disney has done this story well, with it's story line.
Young children will know a bit more atfer watching this and can tell there friends who Moses is and what he did for his people.
If you have never seen this film you will love it, and ...

...choose that title? Well, in the show, it talks about God's power, miracles and signs. The most amazing one, in my opinion of course was the parting of the Red Sea.
Those who have been brought up as Christians would probably have heard or read about this story, while adults will probably have read it in the Bible. However, nothing beats seeing the story in the visual way. This story's about this Hebrew man, Moses who was abandoned as a baby because ... ...killing the baby boys. As, God would have it, he was picked up by none other than the King's own daughter.
So, he was brought up in the palace. When he was grown up, he accidentally killed a man. He fled and stayed away. It was many years later before God called him to lead his people, the Hebrews out of Egypt. But that was no easy task. You can be sure the Pharoah put up a good fight for his slaves! After many miracles, plagues and so forth, finally ...

...it was about Moses in the Bible. The basic Moral of the story is that anyone can do big things for God. Moses was very scared he did not want to talk to Pharoah as well many other tasks. God choose him and he eventually let God have his way and many people profited from his obedience, the hundreds of people that were led out of slavery. Well I can not say anymore you need to get the movie for yourself. If you want your kids to know more about the ...

THE PRINCE OF EGYPT is a full-length, animated version of the Biblical story of Moses. After being adopted and raised as the son of a Pharaoh, Moses learns that he is an Israelite and must accept his destiny as the leader of his enslaved people. As ruler of the most powerful empire on earth, Moses' brother Rameses refuses to let the Israelites go and thus brings down the wrath of God upon Egypt. A triumph of animated storytelling and colourful design, THE PRINCE OF EGYPT is at once a religious epic and a universal tale of personal destiny and brotherly rivalry.
