Phil :) Before England could become part of the Japan/South Korea world cup finals of 2002, like most other teams they had to qualify. They finished top of their group, along the way picking up a memorable 5-1 away victory over Germany. When the groups for the competitions were drawn - England?s own group was described as the 'Group of Death'. Advantages: You can make a lot of money
Disadvantages: You can get sick to death of hearing about it

bollocks. The World Cup is an excuse for the capitalists to make a mint out of the masses who hold to the ideal that it’s a beautiful game. The World Cup is infinitely predictable. I don’t have a crystal ball, but I can tell you:  We won’t win  We’ll get kicked out early on  David Beckham will get all the attention (the advertising sponsors will make damn sure of that)  England fans will get drunk and fight  England fans will get even more drunk and fight even more Of course, as soon as it’s all over, we’ve got the next one to start looking forward to! Advantages: Showed England can beat the best
Disadvantages: We didn?t go further

England got off to a bright start and with a Sol Campbell goal midway through the 1st half it seemed, as England would go on to win the game comfortably. But as the England team emerged to play the 2nd half they fell apart. Sweden equalised fairly soon after the half-time break and they got the better opportunities after that ...
