DVD Description
An intrepid band of resistance fighters battle for Spanish independence in 1810. In order to achieve their objective, they must first haul a six-ton cannon across the wide expanse of Spain's mountains. During their perilous journey, a dramatic love triangle emerges between a dashing resistance fighter (Frank Sinatra), his sultry mistress (Sophia Loren), and a British Navy captain (Cary Grant) recruited for the cause.
Advantages: Shorter than the BBC adaptation Disadvantages: Lead actors
...As someone teaching this book to students I was really pleased to find a version which was short enough to show in class and pretty close to the original text. However I found the two lead actors (playing Elizabeth B and Darcy) very far from the convincing - Darcy (Macfadyen) lacked sparkle and Elizabeth (Knightley) lacked strength. What made me most shocked was the kissing! There is NO kissing in Austen... ever... and that's what makes her so wonderful - she manages to capture romance and passion without so much as a snuggle. I found this version a little watered-down. Nevertheless Judi Dench and Brenda Blethyn were fabulous and definitely worth watching. Overall this is a good DVD, worth buying to watch but possibly not to keep....

Liverpool FC Review ofLiverpool FC - Steven Gerrard My Story DVDby
jenstar12
Advantages: Easy on the eyes Disadvantages: to short
...For any Liverpool Fans, our Captain Fantastic, has released Steven Gerrard (My Story).
A wonderful DVD, giving us insight on the day to day life of our favourite Captain! He gives us a nice indepth tour of Anfield Stadium, and don't we just love it when it hits the Kop end, and you see all the best passionate fans screaming 'You'll never walk alone' what a song, what pride, what passion, what support the liverpool fans give to their team. Even when the we are down they know how to bring us back up.
Steven Gerrard takes us all around the dressing rooms, i can just imagine all the sexiness in that room before the game.
But this really isn't a DVD for those who are passionate for football, it's more a DVD for those who are a fan of Stevie G himself, of which i very much am. He goes in to some depth on his home life with his wife Alex...

Advantages: Good extras Disadvantages: Some mismatches
...Cro Cop neutralised Coleman's wrestling.
This DVD has a very good quota of extras, from fighter interviews and biographies. Crowning glory for extras is "Backstage with Bas Rutten" lasts a good 10 minutes.
A good entry point for pride rookies. Worth checking out....
