I have not long finished watching the Patriot on DVD and I thought I may as well write an op, and tell everyone what its like. But just as important earn myself 10p!
INFO ~~~~ Movie Runtime: 158 mins Director: Roland Emmerich
THE STARS ~~~~~~~~~ Mel Gibson - Benjamin Martin Heath Ledger - Grbriel Martin Jason Isaacs - Col. William Tavington Tom Wilkinson - Gen. Cornwallis
THE MOVIE ~~~~~~~~~ The movie part of the DVD features a Wide Screen playing of the film in either English or Hungarian. Capable of relaying in surround sound. The norm for DVD's.
Benjamin Martin was a viscous war hero and ruthless killer turned into a heavily devoted family man with the aid of his late wife.
Now with seven children he opposes a call to arms against the British 'RedCoats' in the Revolution War in the late 18th century. But contrary to is fathers approval his son Gabriel enlists as a 'Patriot' to fight as a Continental.
Soon Benjamin decides he must also fish out his old fightin kit to ensure the safety of his son.
The performances are excellent and Gibson has performed another great role. Along with Ledger and Isaacs it makes a rivoting movie to watch and a efinate recommendation.
The story touches upon other issues such as racial equality and the involvment of the French.
I was expecting to see 'BRAVEHEART RETURNS' but I was grossly mistaken and sat through a great movie. The costumes are excellent, the battles are awsome and history is accurate.
THE DVD ~~~~~~~ Apart from the movie the DVD also includes some extras: -Feature length commentry from the director -Special Effects: a couple of 'how they do that?' clips, very interesting, one shows how a blokes head was taken off by a bouncing canon ball, and the other shows how they digitally added the armies. -The Art Of War: A behind the scenes clip -The True Patriot: A historical look at the war, quite interesting. -Photo Gallery: Not uch cop.
The stuff for the DVD is good quality and interesting but not much in volume, its a pity but some is better than nothin i spose!
