The last tour of the last angry poet
Review of Bill Hicks - Totally DVD by  graememt

Advantages: The funniest and most thought-provoking comedy standup ever
Disadvantages: Bill Hicks died

...I never heard of Bill Hicks until a few years back, way after his death. Once I heard one routine, I was hooked. This is one of the very few DVD's out there, so it's vital for the fan. The DVD begins with a documentary, "It's just a ride" which charts Bill's rise in the industry, from underage teen at Texan comedy spots through to his sell out crowds in England. It is a mixture of interviews with family, friends, comedians and colleagues and also some live footage of some of his most savage comedy. This part of the DVD is actually just as entertaining as the concert in many repects, especially in the interviews with his childhood friends where they talk of Bill's obsessions and passions: Jimi Hendrix, Kiss, pornography, LSD and how they always believed they would all go on to be rock stars. It also marks out the mission that Bill seems... Read review

"Passion" Promotes Emotional Faith
Review of The Passion Of The Christ (Subtitled) by  jankperegrine

Advantages: none to speak of
Disadvantages: violence, gore, preachy, boring, confusing...

...I was very disappointed and dismayed. I had a sinking feeling from all the reviews I had read of Mel Gibson's infamous movie, The Passion of the Christ, that I wouldn't care much for it and yet when a strong Christian friend offered me her DVD copy, I decided to see for myself what all the fuss was about. My only consolation is I didn't pay for the, um, torture. The overly long movie, even at two hours, but replete with requisite slow-mos at key religious moments, offers the Roman Catholic Gibson's dramatic interpretation of the last twelve hours of the life of the much-suffering Jesus of Nazareth, portrayed courageously by the quite handsome with European features, white-skinned Jim Cavaziel. I've heard that he's so religious that he started a prayer time before work on the set and the one day he forgot to lead it he was stuck... Read review

A beautiful story
Review of The Notebook (Wide Screen) by  lucianne123

Advantages: A beautiful love story
Disadvantages: ermmm.....

...I only recently purchased this DVD while shopping with a friend. This has a beautiful love story, the most romantic film since the titanic and made me have a good cry. This is a must see film which shows a rollarcoaster of emotions. I took this DVD round to a friends for a femaile film night and we all had a good cry but wanted to watch it again. I have watched the DVD so many times and it still has the same impact and never gets boring i advise any to still buy this film. This film is more of a chick flick or a movie when u have just been finished by a boyfriend or girlfriend and shows a real fairytale romance and how love brings people back together. This Dvd is based on the noveln written by nicholas SParks. Ryan Gosling and Rachel Mc adams play Noah and Allie as teenagers, and james Garner and Gena Rowlands play Noah and Allie when... MINE!
Review of Finding Nemo DVD by  t_winkle23

Advantages: The animation is fantastic and it's so funny
Disadvantages: None

...What a great film! I'm a real big Disney fan and am trying to collect all the DVD's as and when they come out. But I was so impressed with Finding Nemo. It's a real modern animation that won't leave you disapointed. Adults and children alike will love it. The story revolves mainly around Marlin, Nemo's loving but overprotective Dad. On Nemo's first day of school he is captured by divers and put in a fish tank in a dental surgery in Australia with a few other wierd and wonderful tropical fish with whom he becomes good friends. On Marlins journney to find his missing son he stumbles across the most fogetful fish in the sea - Dory. Ellen DeGeneres is great as the voice of Dory. It helps the Dory has some great lines too! The film follows Marlin and Dory across the ocean on the search to find Nemo. On there journey they come across... Read review
