Love or Hate Lindsay Lohan today, no one can overlook the outstanding performance that she delivered in the Parent Trap- hence marking cinematographic history both for the film and for herself as one of Disney’s leading favourite family comedy actresses. Like I mentioned above, my favorite feature in this film, apart from the really original plot is the outstanding acting of Lindsay Lohan. She played both twins and one can only guess the double hard work she had at that age. But I would say that she did both roles to perfection. Actually, it is quite astonishing to watch her in the skins of both Hallie and Annie. I would say that she balances the roles of twins to perfection; she depicts some similarities between them but keeps her acting different enough to show that Hallie and Annie are twins and not the same person.
I also marveled over the way that she spoke with such an easy British accent in the skin of Annie. Considering the fact that she was born and raised in America, she does an extremely marvellous vocal impression of a posh, poised and wealthy British girl. When Lohan is playing Hallie, I think that she does as well as job into depicting the carefree and mischievous girl who always wanted to meet her mother. Moreover, I don’t know if that comes from the fact that both girls are played by the same actress, but Lonhan manages to depict a very intense bond between Annie and Hallie. I feel like all sisters- twins or not- will be able to relate to the strong sisterly friendship depicted in the film. I certainly found myself crying at certain powerful scenes, especially when I thought of my own sister!
However, the poignancy of the situation does not by any means give an overly intense or heavy atmosphere to the film. I would rather say that it is an extremely endearing family comedy- not unlike Home Alone. Family relationships are depicted in every aspect, including the comfort and help that butler and/or nannies can bring to a household. This perfectly suits the various thematic elements that include mainly: Love, friendship, and some deeper issues like divorce and/or broken families.
The main cast includes • Lindsay Lohan • Dennis Quaid • Natasha Richardson • Elaine HendrixDVD Extras are made up of: • Commentaries • Featurettes • Interviews • How Hallie became Annie
I must say that I really enjoyed the How Hallie became Annie parts- It was really fun to learn about the strategies used in order to make Lohan perform the roles of both girls in the movie!
Overall, highly recommended to absolutely everyone- regardless of age or gender! It is extremely hard to believe that the sweet little girl in the film is the Lindsay Lohan that we know today but still, she completely deserves every single applaud she got when she played Annie and Hallie in The Parent Trap.
Advantages: Excellent cast, plot and a brilliant soundtrack Disadvantages: No Extras

We've had The Parent Trap in our DVD collection for quite some while but it's only recently that my two young daughters have discovered it. In a very short time though they seem to have become quite addicted to this lovely feel good film produced by the Disney Studios. ...Natasha Richardson). Lindsay Lohan plays the twins (Hallie Parker and Annie James) in her Child-actor form who performs in this role extremely well and brings a sense of love and family values to her character.
This is a well known film as it is a remake of the classic made in 1961. however, if I had to compare the two films. ...some free time to watch the films I put once to my list but had no time to watch them. Yesterday I have chosen The Parent Trap. fall in love again, but with the appearance of Meredith, their Dad?s new girlfriend things aren?t going to go as smoothly as planned?
This is a film that I only watched because my boyfriend?s little sister wanted to, it isn?t normally the type of film I would watch so I may be a bit biased on that aspect as I?m obviously not the intended age group, however I was intrigued to see Lindsay Lohan?s first feature film as no matter what the papers say she is a brilliant actress and that, above all else is why she?s famous.
Like the twins she portrays in the film, Lindsay Lohan was also 11 years old when she appeared in The ParentTrap and I personally think she did a superb job. It?s hard to believe that the cute little 11 year old in this film is now the crazy 23 year we see today in the papers who?s life is quickly spiralling out ...
It's not often I will outright call a film bad. But this is terrible.
As a fan of Lohan since "ParentTrap" I bought this DVD on a whim, hoping it would be as good as other Lohan films such as Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. I'm not sure when I've been so disappointed.
This film is weak in characters, plot, dialogue and quite possibly every aspect down to the costume and hair styles! I sat through as much of it as I could, not sure whether I could stand to watch any more, apparently my inner conscience became unconscious, and I fell asleep. When I did decide to watch the end, I wasn't surprised to see the film had an ultimately bad ending when it had started out so poorly.
One of the worst parts of this film had to be the fake flowers and use of computer animation, which just made the film appear childish even if it is aimed ...
written and directed by Nancy Meyers. One of the DVD extras is a very interesting commentary by her which is definitely worth watching. She has also written and directed 'The ParentTrap' and has directed 'What Women Want' among others.
The other main DVD extra is a behind the scenes look which is quite entertaining in it's own way.
So overall this is a very entertaining escapist sort of film that is great for watching on a cold winter night with a nice glass of wine and a box of tissues. It's probably more of a woman's film, although having said that, my husband did watch it with me and enjoyed it in his own way!
At the moment it can be bought very cheaply on Amazon for only £3.98 which I think is an absolute bargain! ...
