...explain. One of the so-called advantages of DVD over VHS movies, is the ability to add extra material, such as “The Making of…” or out-takes and the like. Of course, this all uses up precious disk space, which could, if crammed in too tight, impinge on the sharpness of the movie, particularly a dynamic (fast moving) one like TF&TF. Laying down a DVD is a lengthy process involving the creation of greater ‘elbow-room’ for the fast-action bits, combined with greater file compression for the slower darker bits. For example, two hours worth of the old BBC 2 test card would be a tiny file-size in computer-speak, comprising one image, which has no changes for hours on end, and some other data to signify how long it should be displayed. Advantages: A magical and memorable story, great music, unforgettable visuals.
Disadvantages: Not for very young children; some frightening images.

.... The normal edition has the movie and a significant making-of. The price is pretty good, so if you just want to see the movie, this would be the one to get. The making-of actually is exciting news for us old fans of Labyrinth, because before the DVD, it was so rare it'd go for almost 70 US bucks for a ratty old VHS tape! The Superbit DVD is for you quality obsessed people. If you want to see the movie at super high visual and sound quality, get this one. HOWEVER, it does NOT include any extra materials, because the space normally used on the DVD for extra materials is being used for making the image super pretty. The collector's edition has 2 discs. It also costs 50 US dollars. (I am from the USA, hehe, sorry for not being able to do the pounds conversion.) However, if somehow my review has convinced you to get this one, you'll be rewarded...
