It's Made of People! whoops, sorry - wrong chuck Heston film!
This is so dated now it's sheer brilliance. made in the 70's good old Charlton Heston and his Doc Savage chin and chest just rob Chuck in every scene.
The film is so silly now it's just a case of watching it without trying to involve your brain in any way at all. Chuck dying at the end of the film I totally forgot about (I told you it contained spoilers!) all the scenes of newscasters and scientists on television stank of romero's "Dead" movies so I can see how the book this was based on inspired him. I thought this film would have been re-cut or included all the cut scenes (like the now infamous woman in crypt on the cutting room floor). It would have been nice to see the context those scenes were in.
We got a tiny thing about "making of Omega Man" which was really bad and didn't add to the DVD in the slightest. Can't someone ask Charlton to get off his gun toting backside and make a few commentaries. No-one should even consider re-making this. Like Logans Run (HERESY!) certain films are beyond remaking (Tim Burton, Planet Of The Apes - Tim, I used to LIKE you!)
The Afro-American actors all seemed to convinced they were in a Blacksploitation film. This wasn't Shaft, Foxy Brown or any of those other mad but excellent movies made at the same kind of time. I think whoever did hair could have tried to find another kind of haircut for some of the Black actors as well. I know that style was pretty much worn by everyone (male and female alike) back then but there were SOME other hairstyles.
The main guy in The Family I've seen in so many other films and roles (and still don't know his name). I also assume the various car manufacturers paid to have their cars driven by Charlton as product placement. This film is worth a watch if you haven't seen it

Advantages: Minimalistic, intellgent approach, chilling scenario, Charlton Heston at his peak Disadvantages: Not apparently as good as the literary source material (I Am Legend), looks quite dated.
