Based on the popular British comedy of the same name, THE OFFICE uses the same mockumentary style and humour derived from awkward social situations. However, it has managed to...
more...establish its own fan base and identity apart from the shadow of the original. At the Dunder Miffin Paper Company, manager Michael Scott believes himself beloved by his employees for his jokey nature. What he doesn't realise is that most of them resent and even despise him, except for sycophantic Dwight. Meanwhile, Jim woos engaged receptionist Pam, while both navigate the office politics and 'humour' of boss Scott. THE OFFICE may be a remake, but it has charms of its very own. Series One includes the first six episodes.

"If i had to choose between a one-night-stand or time with these people? I choose them..."

Based on the popular British series of the same name, this faster-paced American version follows the daily interactions of a group of idiosyncratic office employees via a documentary film crew's cameras.

Regional manager Michael (Steve Carell, The Daily Show) thinks he's the coolest, funniest, best boss ever - which, of course, makes him the uncoolest, most obnoxious and annoying boss as far as his staff is concerned. His co-worker Jim (John Krasinski, Kinsey) lusts after engaged receptionist Pam (Jenna Fischer, Miss Match) when he's not sabotaging his cube-mate, the know-it-all Dwight (Rainn Wilson, Six Feet Under).
Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak, Punk'd) is a young, smart, self-possessed temp, who quickly figures out the real office politics despite Michael's attempts to instill the official point-of-view.

Episode 1: Pilot
A documentary crew arrives at the offices of Dunder Mifflin to observe the employees and learn about modern management. Manager Michael Scott tries to paint a happy picture, while sales rep Jim fights with his nemesis Dwight and flirts with receptionist Pam.

Episode 2: Diversity Day
A consultant arrives to teach the staff about tolerance and diversity but Michael insists on imparting his own knowledge. Meanwhile, Jim struggles to keep hold of a lucrative contract extension.

Episode 3: Health Care
Michael doesn't want to upset the staff so he gets Dwight to pass on news about the company's reduced health provisions. Fed up with his nosiness, Jim and Pam pretend they are suffering from a variety of conditions including Ebola, Mad Cow Disease, spontaneous dentohydroplosion, hotdog fingers, nano-robot infection, and Count Choculitis.

Episode 4: The Alliance
Michael arranges a morale-boosting birthday party for Meredith and is determined to come up with the funniest message in her card. Dwight wants a pact with Jim to fight the downsizing, and Michael regrets showing off when Oscar asks for sponsorship for a charity walk being undertaken by his nephew, who has cerebral palsy.

Episode 5: Basketball
The office staff play a basketball game against the warehouse workers in which Jim shows off to impress Pam and upstage her fiancé who is on the opposing team.

Episode 6: Hot Girl
When an attractive woman, Katy, comes to the office to solicit her purses, all of the male staffers vie for her affection, most notably Michael and Dwight. Meanwhile, Pam gets jealous of her new competition, Dwight buys a man purse in order to woo the woman, Michael recruits Ryan to clean out his car in hopes of driving Katy home, and one of the lucky workers goes home with Katy in the passenger seat.

I bought this off PlayUSA for £16.99 and its worth every penny.
