The entire first series of the award-winning spoof fly-on-the-wall docu-comedy set in the offices of Wernham Hogg, a Slough paper merchants. Ricky Gervais' excruciatingly funny...
more...portrayal of the tragically inept manager David Brent drew favourable comparisons with John Cleese's role in Fawlty Towers, and THE OFFICE is assured a similar place in the hall of fame of UK comedy. Whether dealing with his overly officious sidekick Gareth, the engaged yet lovelorn receptionist Dawn or Tim the disillusioned sales rep, handling the opposite sex, the potential redundancies as the imminent merging of two branches looms or the ultimate office cliche--the training day--Brent never fails to demonstrate his desperate inadequacies.
All six fantastic episodes:
1. Downsize - David Brent learns that his staff are threatened with redundancy but he's been promoted.
2. Work Experience - Donna arrives at Wernham Hogg for work experience.
3. The Quiz - It's the Annual Quiz night but it's also Tim's birthday too. Will the young Tim and Gareth beat Brent and Finchy

This BAFTA award winning comedy is the genius creation of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.
The basic concept of this comedy, is that a film crew is filming an ordinary office whilst they work, however of course we know that its not real, but I must admit when your watching it you do forget that its just a comedy and not a real office.

The main character to this must be David Brent, played by Ricky Gervais he is the boss at the slough paper merchant and he’s also a guy who thinks he’s funnier than he actually is, however how irritating he seems to be, there are quite a few scene in which we feel more than a bit sorry for the guy.

The only guy that seems to think David Brent is funny, is a character called Gareth, this is a character that is defiantly fun to laugh at, and trust me, you will defiantly do some laughing at.

Two other main characters in this sit com are Tim, and dawn. These two are obviously in love and its fun to see how their relationship develops as the series goes on.

So there’s many storylines happening in this first great series of the office, the main one being that slough is currently being downsized and there are possibilities of redundancies, and there is also the story line of the Tim and dawn and their love for each other.

My personal favourite episode of the first series, is the fourth episode into this series. This is the one where all the staff are having staff training and is just hilarious mainly due to all the songs sung by Ricky on his guitar.

Ok now for some info on the actual DVD, well firstly ill mention that this is actually 2 disks, which is just really good value for money.

On the first disk then are the 6 episodes in the series, all of which are around 30 minutes long.
On the second disk, are the special features, these are behind the scenes and deleted scenes, behind the scenes just follows Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and some of the other cast members through the writing processes and the acting and filming processes too, some of this is really funny to see and it makes you wonder how they ever got some work done.

Altogether this is an amazing sitcom, it is defiantly worth the watch and I would actually rate this as one of the top 10 sitcoms ever made.
