Advantages: Better than the British office Disadvantages: Michael is just as cringeworthy as david brent
..."If i had to choose between a one-night-stand or time with these people? I choose them..."
Based on the popular British series of the same name, this faster-paced American version follows the daily interactions of a group of idiosyncratic office employees via a documentary film crew's cameras.
Regional manager Michael (Steve Carell, The Daily Show) thinks he's the coolest, funniest, best boss ever - which, of course, makes him the uncoolest, most obnoxious and annoying boss as far as his staff is concerned. His co-worker Jim (John Krasinski, Kinsey) lusts after engaged receptionist Pam (Jenna Fischer, Miss Match) when he's not sabotaging his cube-mate, the know-it-all Dwight (Rainn Wilson, Six Feet Under).
Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak, Punk'd) is a young, smart, self-possessed temp, who quickly figures out the real office politics despite...

Advantages: Good package with fantastic extras Disadvantages: Picture quality not the greatest
...This review covers the DVD itself rather than the actual programme. If you want to find out more about the actual series then I recommend you read the other dooyou opinions. The opinion by MykReeve in particular is good.
I used Blackstar to purchased my copy of series1 on DVD from Blackstar. Unfortunately I picked the time to buy it when their local post office was on strike so I didn’t receive it until a few days after the release date. Blackstar packaged it well and it got to me in perfect condition. The DVD packaging itself is very impressieve that opens out into a cross.
What makes this release extra special is the fact that it’s available in the UK (and other R2 zones) before it’s released in America. Actually it’s well before the release date in America. Apparently some issues have arisen regarding TV...

DVD Description
The entire first series of the award-winning spoof fly-on-the-wall docu-comedy set in the offices of Wernham Hogg, a Slough paper merchants. Ricky Gervais' excruciatingly funny portrayal of the tragically inept manager David Brent drew favourable comparisons with John Cleese's role in Fawlty Towers, and THE OFFICE is assured a similar place in the hall of fame of UK comedy. Whether dealing with his overly officious sidekick Gareth, the engaged yet lovelorn receptionist Dawn or Tim the disillusioned sales rep, handling the opposite sex, the potential redundancies as the imminent merging of two branches looms or the ultimate office cliche the training day Brent never fails to demonstrate his desperate inadequacies. All six fantastic episodes: 'Downsize', Work Experience', 'The Quiz', 'Training' 'New Girl' and 'Judgement'.
Advantages: Deleted Scenes Disadvantages: Start And Credits Between Every Episode, few extra features
...The office is a "comedy fly on the wall documentry". Set in a paper suppliers office, this series shows the funny side of working in an office. David Brent (Played by ricky gervais) is the manager of the office, and likes to think of himself as a bit of a funny man and everyones best friend. Then theres Gareth the TA member, who likes to think of himself as a matcho man, but really doesnt look like he could stand a nite in the garden alone. Ricky gervais not only stars in this amazing series but is also the comedy genious who wrote and directed the series.
The whole series on one dvd,a must for any fan. Series 2 is supposed to be released within the next few months....

Advantages: Hilarious easy-watching comedy Disadvantages: Not many episodes per series
...I wasn't convinced that I would like the IT crowd when it was first shown on TV, but I happened to catch an episode on TV the other night and loved it, and I rushed out and bought both series on DVD. It's a shame there aren't more than 6 episodes in a series, but the extras are as hilarious as the show itself!
This brand new British comedy is fantastic! It is set in the basement office of a big company, in the IT department and the story follows the lives of the three main characters, Moss, Roy and Jen. I would say that you would enjoy this series if you have liked for example, The Big-Bang Theory. Although the writers also worked on Father Ted and The Office, I was skeptical. I had loved Father Ted, but not got along with the humour in The Office.
The DVD features the 6 episodes and some deleted scenes, hidden outtakes and more....

...the office, is an absolutly hilarious situation comedy created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. it was actually broadcast on bb1 in 2001, and after only managing to see the last episode of series one, as soon as this came out on dvd i was one of the first to buy it.
the main concept of the office is that it follows working people in their every day working life around the office. however they are all actors.
david brent ( ricky gervais) is the boss of a paper merchant who kind of fancies himself and thinks hes really funny. all of this just makes the office so good because doesnt everyone know sombody like this?
and doesnt everyone hate working in an office?
the office is definatly the funniest sitcom iv come across and proably will be for some time.
so i advise all of you office newbies to go out an get this fantastic piece...
