Love, in much the same way that Jerry Lewis did in his brilliant original: a representation of the Id out of control that plays like an admission of the actor's off-screen sins. In the sequel, Murphy expands on his Klump family from the first film and makes them major characters. Consequently, his dark side has plenty more places to express itself, particularly through the oversexed grandmother, Sherman's aggressively impotent father, and his just plain surly uncle, as well as Buddy Love (all played by Murphy). The movie opens with professor Sherman Klump barely holding onto his sanity as his internal Buddy Love makes him say inappropriate things. He decides to extract his mutant Buddy Love gene (a sort of genetic version of electroshock therapy), but afterward is unable to maintain his original personality and intelligence. Sherman is the most bland character of the bunch, and the audience gets stuck with his boring romance with fellow professor Janet Jackson, his struggle to be nice, and generic intrigue surrounding a Fountain of Youth formula he developed. When it's not trying too hard to be nice--heck, one character is anally raped by a giant hamster--the movie works. The moral of the story is that Sherman needs to reconnect with his inner Buddy Love. That goes for Murphy, too. --Andy Spletzer, Amazon.com

Advantages: The wit and humour just keeps on coming Disadvantages: The plot is unstructured
The highly acclaimed comedy box office smash hit "The nutty professor", returns with the side splittingly funny follow up jam packed with enough gags and pranks guaranteed to tickle your insides. You will be left with such a big cheesy grin you will look like the monkey that got its banana. Each weighing in at a gentle 300+ kilos, the Klumps can demolish a smorgasbord within minutes and, as an additional warning - don't think you'll eat after this ... ...Professor Sherman Klump,(played by the king of comedy Eddie Murphy) is getting married. And the Klump family could not be more delighted. His fiancée Denise Gaines (Janet Jackson) is thrilled to become a Klump, and with her appetite she’ll fit right in with the bizarre but highly hilarious antics that go on. Granny Klump is just excited for Sherman as she tells him he will finally engage in intimate relations. Sherman thought he had seen the ...

Advantages: A few good laughs Disadvantages: Dismal storyline
...few years to follow up the 1996 original 'The nutty professor' but they have finally got around to doing it - how did they do? Not very well.
This could be for several different reasons. Maybe it's because the first was so funny that it would take a blinding sequal to match up to it. Maybe it's the storyline - the Klumps has a very forgettable storyline (which i will explain in full) and when you're halfway through the film you have to remind yourself ... ...themselves. In the first film they had small parts which were very funny - but they were small parts. This film, as the title suggests, is all about the Klump family and to be honest half the time i couldn't make out what the were saying or understand the jokes which probably spoilt the film for me.
So the storyline. Well professor Sherman Klump is still being haunted by Buddy love - his alter ego from the first film. Buddy makes the professor say ...

Advantages: The characters, the acting and it was funny Disadvantages: Who is this film for?
...almost everything. This was about the only thing left in the video store last night (Saturday night) that I hadn’t already seen. Oh also, I wanted to see it because Janet Jackson stars, and I’m a big fan of the Jackson family. Background. As you probably know, this is the sequel to the hugely-successful “The Nutty Professor” in which Eddie Murphy played “Professor Sherman Klump” a lovably, but very fat professor ... ...One very popular scene in the original film was where Prof. Sherman was eating dinner with his family, and the film’s producers have decided to expand that scene into a major storyline in this sequel. The film also stars Janet Jackson (as I already mentioned), is directed by Peter Segal. The Plot. Buddy Love - the anti-Sherman created in the first film - is starting to creep back into Sherman’s life, making him say inappropriate things ...

Advantages: Can make up be an advantage? Disadvantages: Over the top and weak at the same time
...individual case, almost singlehandedly creating the motormouth, wisecracking black cool dude, although he needed to lift an awfully large chunk of that muse from the act of Richard Pryor. He has had some pretty wonderful vehicles for his talents, in such movies as Trading Places and Beverly Hills Cop, but in recent times he seems to have totally abandoned any pretence to taste, refinement or reserve.
Dr Dolittle 1 and 2 were bad enough, The Nutty ... ...plumbed completely new depths, stretching the genre probably as far as it can go and in the process degenerating into a frightful mess - in short he's lost it...
If Rush Hour and Big Momma's House were peculiar examples of the motormouth, scarcely intelligible black humour, then they are literally as nothing next to the bizarre, totally over the top mess that is The Klumps. Murphy probably thinks all this is extremely funny and hugely entertaining, ...

bigger and better Review ofThe Nutty Professor 2 The Klumps (Wide Screen)by
utero
Advantages: very funny, great extras Disadvantages: none really
The one thing Everyone remembers from the first Nutty Professor is the dining room scene where Eddie Muphy took on several roles to create a whole family of Klumps. Well this sequel has that whole family for the entire film and although it's a bit patchy in places it still has some very funny moments that just get better every time you watch it. Since this opinion is on the dvd that's what I'll focus on. This film was a big hit in the states so naturally ... ...The film is presented in 1.85.1 anamorphic widescreen and the pictures is crytal clear and definite referance quality. The sound mix is in Dolby Digital 5.1 with either English or French languages. Unlike most comedies this mix makes great use of the rear speakers. The extras are where the disk really earns its pricetag. First up is a 25 minute making of whihc features interviews with the main cast but also a great deal of footage of Murphy in action. ...

Everything is coming up roses for Professor Sherman Klump (Eddie Murphy). His fiancee, the equally brilliant Denise Gaines (pop music star Janet Jackson), loves him for his prodigious mind. Sherman's university has just been offered $150,000,000 for the radical new youth serum Sherman has developed. And the big-eating, trash-talking Klump clan (all played by Murphy) couldn't be happier. The only person who can ruin things now is Sherman's nemesis: his idlike alter ego, the smooth-talking, flashy dressing Buddy Love (also played by Murphy). In an attempt to destroy Buddy once and for all, Sherman manages to locate and extract the DNA strand that represents the last remaining trace of his own private Mr. Hyde. But the gene accidentally mutates with a strand of dog hair, giving birth to a brave new Buddy who sniffs out the Klumps. With the help of Academy Award-winning makeup wizard Rick Baker, Murphy magically disappears into multiple roles for uproarious results. NUTTY PROFESSOR II is a hilarious sequel to the 1996 remake.
