Advantages: A superb movie from Burton! Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste
This is the special edition of the movie! Please bear in mind this is the sceond time writing this review but because ciao hates me I lost the first one! This is a stop-motion animated movie from Tim Burton. Many make the mistake that burton is actually the director of this movie but he is not. He is the producer and the writer of the movie. It is his vision that first came from a poem Burton wrote. He doodled some characters onto the page whilst ... ...and went on to direct the "james and the giant peach" movie that was also stop-motion animation. I think Selick does a good job but I do think Burton would have been better directing the movie as it was his original vision!
The plot is somehwat odd but in a very charming and original way. We are introduced at the start to the many holidays we celebrate, Christmas and easter are memtioned. We are taken to a secluded part of a wood where there are ...

I'm a big fan of Tim Burton, after seeing his previous work in various films; Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Planet of the Apes, and the most recent animated film of his - The Corpse Bride. i can easily say I've always been a fan of Burton's masterpieces! So in fairness this film came as no suprise as to how impressive it was going to be. i love originality and The NightmareBeforeChristmas isn't shy of showing this - from the little towns - down to the detail of each and every character - the clown with the tear away face to Sally, who's a puppet type being.
This film is true eye-candy! And because i have viewed...

Advantages: Beautifully filmed Disadvantages: Left wanting more, too short
...is more like a piece of ballet than the clumsy animation previously expected from such films in the past. This is all down to well-planned, smooth animation techniques. All the techniques used to recreate these tones, textures and moods make the audience feel really involved in this fantasy world created in ‘Tim Burton’s The NightmareBeforeChristmas’. These kinds of films are sadly in a slight decline due to 3D animation that relies more on mathematics than skill and creativity. Maybe this is why films this brilliant and unique are now harder to find amongst the unimaginative world of the mass produced computer generated imagery (CGI) favoured by the film industry.

Advantages: A stunning animated classic. Disadvantages: None.
...Tim Burton's The NightmareBeforeChristmas:
Special Edition DVD
Introduction
The tagline for The NightmareBeforeChristmas was: "A ghoulish tale with wicked humour and stunning animation"; I hardly think that does this truly classic masterpiece justice.
I first watched The NightmareBeforeChristmas in 1993, (the year it was released), when my Mum got it for me to keep me occupied on Christmas eve. I have been a huge fan ever since and my interest has grown and I now a massive fan of Tim Burton as well as most things dark and twisted! Anyway my ever-so-wonderful fiancé got me the Special Edition DVD as a Christmas present, needless to say I was pleased as punch, over-the-moon, chuffed-to-bits etc etc. I watched it straight away and decided to write a review for all you lovely Ciao people!

DVD Description
Tim Burton's stop-motion animated feature finds Pumpkin King Jack Skellington thinking the grass is greener over in Santa Claus's holiday. He marshals all his goblins and ghouls to take over Christmas, but alas--poor Jack belongs to Halloween. An amazing visual and musical feast that should be seen at least twice to catch all the kinks and quirks in the nooks and crannies. Academy Award Nominations: Best Visual Effects.
