Tim Burton's stop-motion animated feature finds Pumpkin King Jack Skellington thinking the grass is greener over in Santa Claus's holiday. He marshals all his goblins and ghouls to...
more...take over Christmas, but alas--poor Jack belongs to Halloween. An amazing visual and musical feast that should be seen at least twice to catch all the kinks and quirks in the nooks and crannies. Academy Award Nominations: Best Visual Effects.

Full review
This is my favourite film ever I love it so much im crazy about this film I can watch it over and over again I just love it its brilliant, beautiful, a sheer masterpiece I could go on forever and ever. It's amazing and so full of dreams and imagination that has captured mine and millions of hearts all over the world.

The film is a real cut above the rest and it's like no other ive ever seen before.

The film takes place in a small and delightful town of Halloween where all the creeps and ghouls that usually come out at Halloween to scare all the boys and girls live. Along with them is the pumpkin king Jack Skellington who as the name shows is the king of Halloween town. But as the same Halloween celebrations and events happen every Halloween he soon becomes tired and bored of the same old thing. While leaving Halloween town after all the Halloween celebrations are over he finds a gathering of trees and each one contains a different door which each have a different meaning. For example the door with the egg on is for Easter and the door with the turkey on is for thanks giving. But they don't catch Jack's each as much the Christmas tree shaped door does and upon opening it unlocks the magical world of Christmas town. Not long after jack is delighted and captured by all the Christmas town madness he soon wants it to be his and there for goes about his tasks of this year to be Santa Claus and own Christmas.

Along with Jack are his two trustworthy friends Sally who is trapped in a unnoticed and undying love for Jack himself and Zero jacks ghost dog also helps him along the way. But as the title of the movie reads not all is tricks and treats for an evil presence hides under Halloween town and he goes by the name of Oogie Boogie. Oogie Boogie will do anything to get his hands on Santa Claus and is helped on his devilish task by the towns finest Trick or Treaters Lock, Shock and Barrel. Who will do anything to help Oogie Boogie and keep on his good side.

The film captures all the magic of Halloween and Christmas which delight all children and adults of any age. Halloween town is full of all the usual characters such as vampires, bats, skeletons and talking trees but not only that but there are a whole new number of usual and creepy critters such as the mayor with his double face revolving head and a man with a rather sticky head.

They all join the king in taking over Christmas and only one person who knows the true fate of Jacks obsession with Christmas is the only person who is pushed aside Sally. Sally is controlled by her creator, the professor, who treats her as his slave. Made from only rags and leaves she can easily get away without hurting herself which comes in very handy. All in all this is a film that will go on in anyone's hearts for years to come it is a shear masterpiece. I dream of the day Halloween town becomes reality.

*The DVD*
The DVD runs for approximately 76 minutes but I usually watch it more than once each time I watch it. However the DVD contains:
>3 Deleted Storyboards: Behemoth Singing, Oogie Boogie with Dancing Bugs, Alternate Identity for Oogie Boogie.
These were brilliant I especially loved the alternate ending.
>4 Deleted Animations: Jack's Scientific Experiments, Vampire Hockey Players, Lock, Shock and Barrel, Oogie Boogie Shadow Dance.
I also liked these as they had extra bits or endings that were not included within the film.
>3 Animation Tests: Jack, Sally, Zero
My favourite character :)
>Behind the Scenes look at the making of the movie
>Storyboard to Film Comparison - Town meeting
>Still frame Gallery of Concept Art and Character Designs (450 Images
I love looking through all of these there brilliant and the initial designs and drawings are unusual.
>Audio Commentary with director Henry Selick
>Theatrical Trailer
>Posters
>Tim Burton's directorial debut 'Vincent'
>Tim Burton's early film 'Frankenweenie' and 'Vincent'
Vincent is in the same style animation as the actual movie but I did find this short movie rather creepy.
>Interactive Menu
>Scene Access

You can buy the DVD for around about £9 from cdwow.com and many other web stores. You can buy it shops as well but so far I have found none that seem to stock it as it appears to becoming more harder to find so I would get it while you could.

*Merchandise*
The movie has spawned off a hell of a lot of merchandise which you can buy a lot of in a number of stores. Argos has recently stocked the figures of Jack and Sally which are sold as a pair for £24.99. (I have already brought them) you can also buy loads and loads of stuff off eBay which I am quite fond of and have purchased various nightmare before Christmas items off there several times. A lot of the merchandise is quite expensive as its becoming rarer and as it's also movie merchandise so I would get it while you still can.

Not only is there merchandise but the movie has also spawned a whole hotel that is in Disney land. The hotel is open from October to Christmas and has the figures and statues of Jack Skellington and his friends everywhere. It's like being in Halloween Town but its all under one roof I have yet to go there.

Also the Nightmare before Christmas game titled The nightmare Before Christmas Oogie Boogies revenge will be released this year on the 10.11.05 just in time for Christmas and will be available on Xbox and Ps2.

*Warning/Rating*
This film is rated a PG which I think is reasonable but I do warn you that if you watch this movie with small children that they may become frightened by some of the characters so I do advise to take precautions.

Not only is the nightmare before Christmas available but a new film titled Corpse Bride is also released in cinemas this year. It contains the same animation and adventure as the nightmare Before Christmas but hopefully does not beet it (as I love nightmare before Christmas). The story is about a man named Victor he is due to be married but by a grave misunderstanding standing marries the Corpse Bride instead who as you can tell is the living dead. The Corpse Bride is released in the U.K on the 1st of October.

This movie is a must have for any fan of fun, adventure and Tim Burton. As it traps and locks in the true eerie Tim Burton style which will delight your children (and your self) for years to come. Go buy it now
