The Mysterious Lady (Silent)

Advantages: Great game to movie conversion, real horror movie
Disadvantages: Can't think any, but maybe too scary for some viewers

...that Silent Hill is shrouded with unimaginable mysteries and terrors. The World of Silent Hill is divided into two, the real world and the alternate world. The real world is just like our regular world, but somehow deserted and always shrouded in thick fog. The Alternate world resembles the real world, but engulfed in total darkness, everything looks old and rusty, and there are bizarre creatures lurking in this alternate world. The feeling of fear and loneliness are overwhelming, making it a good setting for a horror movie. The actors did a great job bringing the characters. For example, Rose was just an ordinary mother who wants to help her beloved daughter. She starts with as weak character in the face of the horrors of Silent Hill and gradually become stronger up to the stage where she venture to the heart of darkness... Read review

Advantages: Kept me puzzled.
Disadvantages: Story, overuse of CGI, amongst others

...they spot a strange humanoid figure coming their way…… And so the mysteries of Silent Hill begin to be unravelled, mysteries that grow as Rose & Cybil (the cop) explore the supposedly deserted town looking for her daughter and a way out. Silent Hill is based on the video game of the same name, is directed by Christopher Gans (Brotherhood of The Wolf) and scripted by Roger Avery (Pulp Fiction, Rules of Attraction). An excellent start… a very good director and a talented writer, add a good cast, Mitchell, Bean and Kim Coates and things sound promising. I find it quite hard to decide exactly how good Silent Hill is, while I didn't really enjoy the film at all I did find myself sitting there pondering what on earth was going on, and I mean that in a good way! I often find films, especially American one, are far too predictable and very easy... Read review

Advantages: Very funny, Great Mansion house story

...House of Mystery is a 1934, black and white film directed by William Nigh. The films starts and firstly we have some really creepy music playing over the opening credits made all the better by the crackly sound quality here. It's 1913 Asia and a drunk American, John Prendergast, barges about offending people. An archaeologist who spends all his time with a native dancer he gravely offends the locals when he kills one of the monkeys in a temple. Not caring for their tradition he strikes out at him when they show their offence which in turn causes the leader to place a curse on him. A curse which involves a giant gorilla. He is however, saved and hidden by his dancer lover for some reason. I can't see why she likes him, he's a real asshole he kills a monkey because it jumped on his back. People got annoyed at this so he starts hitting... Read review
