Advantages: Muse at their best, lengthy set Disadvantages: Strange camera work
Filmed in October 2001, Hullabaloo features Muse's famous performance at Le Zenith in France. The DVD was recorded from footage taken over two nights and merged together to create a concert which without knowing beforehand, feels like one gig on it's own.
It's worth noting that there are NO songs from Absolution on this DVD. Absolution was released two years after the filming and the songs are from OOS and Showbiz. Also, look out for the fantastic "Dead Star" and "In Your World" which were released as a double A side. They never found their way on to a studio album, and the live performances on this DVD make you wonder why. They're both incredible songs and some of Muse's finest work to date.
When i first watched this concert though, i was a little disappointed. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the performance itself. Matt ...
Advantages: Interesting information about the bands early days. Disadvantages: No footage of the band performing or their music on the DVD.
I watched this DVD fro the first time the other day and after watching it i had mixed feelings about whether i liked it or not.
I, myself am a very very big muse fan so i very much wanted to see it when i heard it was coming out.
The DVD goes relatively deeply into MUSE's early days with people being intervied such as record producers, magazine editers and matts old guitar technician. It goes from the bands first gig to them getting signed and becoming very big, very quickly.
I feel that the DVD did inform me about a lot of things that i didnt know about the early days but i also think that on the other hand it would have been nice to see some clips of MUSE live in there and some of there songs as well.
Overall i would reccomend this DVD to a big MUSe fan who is ineterested in the history of the band but dont expect to see ...
Advantages: Excellent track list, camera work helps capture the live feel, refreshing "documentary" Disadvantages: Very few - recorded before the Absolution album, high price (£20+)
Anybody who has been to see a Muse concert will know what it's all about - crowd interaction, lightshows, giant balloons filled with ticker-tape, and most importantly incredible music. 99.9% of fans leaving a Muse concert know they have just witnessed one of the best live bands in the world today, and Hulllabaloo provides a mere taste of that.
Filmed in Paris in October 2001, Hullabaloo contains live footage of 19 of the best tracks from the Devonshire rock band's first 2 albums and early EPs. Those who own the CD soundtrack may question the need for purchasing the DVD as well, but the addition of tracks such as Bliss, Plug In Baby, New Born and Unintended means this is essential to anybody who is even remotely a fan of Muse. The DVD contains something for everybody, from the hard rocking Dead Star, to the angelic ballad Unintended ...

DVD Description
Albert Brooks is Steven Phillips, a veteran screenwriter of 17 films who is told he has lost his edge. A fellow writer with a string of successes under his belt (Jeff Bridges) refers Phillips to Sarah (Sharon Stone), a professional muse (see Greek mythology). In exchange for the royal treatment and a showering of expensive gifts, she will grace writers with her presence, which seems to magically spark profitable ideas from the client's mind. Is her power real or is it all in her clients' heads
