Advantages: Evergreen, ever popular, ever on tour, ever the Moody Blues Disadvantages: None
It seems that The MoodyBlues have been there as long as there has been rock music itself. They have produced their own distinctive and unique sound for over 35 years on fourteen different albums. If you are a fan of the Moodies then you won?t need any review to know what to expect from their output. You will probably have enjoyed their many live performances - which continue to this day.
The Moody years fall into two parts; divided by a break in the early 70s. Conceived in the mid 1960s as a meld of rock group and classical influences, they have consistently produced an intense, powerful, melodic wall of sound. The hallmark of the lyrics of the songs is that they say something about the human condition and that the diction in the vocals is clear over the music. After the first album (Days of Future Passed), which featured a full ...
Advantages: Solid Moody's performance; still going strong Disadvantages: None that the aficianado won't forgive
The MoodyBlues took to the stage of the Royal Albert Hall, London (home of the Prom concerts) on May 1st 2000 towards the end of their latest world tour. Billed here as the ?Hall Of Fame? tour we saw a concert with a very similar running order at The Ice Palace, Tampa, Florida on August 15th 1999. It was then presented as ?World Tour 1999/2000? and was being used to launch the new album ?Strange Times? (which coincidentally) was released the day after the Tampa show. Almost every concert was played with an orchestra.
The Moodys were backed here by The World Festival Orchestra conducted by Larry Bair ? who had produced most of the arrangements. There was a full house and a wrapt, appreciative and well behaved audience (perhaps awed and inspired by the august red and gold surroundings of this world famous venue). The band were in good ...
Advantages: The best concert I have ever been to Disadvantages: Absolutely none!
I saw The MoodyBlues live twice in 2000 - the first time at the NEC Birmingham and the second at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
The concert at the NEC was very good but the one at The Royal Albert Hall has to be the best gig I have ever been to.
The Moodies played with the World Festival Orchestra and the atmosphere made all the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end! The place was sold out and we had got tickets on the arena floor from where the view was great.
The concert began with an overture from the Orchestra, which was so moving being in a packed Royal Albert Hall that I actually had tears in my eyes and the Moodies hadn’t even taken the stage at that point.
They opened with an English Sunset from the new album, which had the audience in the palm of their hands right from the start. They did quite a few ...
