Gorsh! a lot of people hadn't dug my review... as if i've writen it in Tagalog. Anyway, thanks for taking the time about my review - you know it seems quite healthy that we'd get a share of throwing opinions about and in return recieving afew chunks here and there from others as well from time to time; and not to mension (and yet i'll say it such) it's enjoyable. I'm a clean fun loving guy may i say so.
Anyhow - about my review (w/c is a sequel review of sorts since i've sent a review on the Matrix before on another online-store as i've mensioned)= talking of the Motion Picture entitled THE MATRIX: The main reason that i loathed it (the movie) is because it hadn't met my personal preferencial uhm...what do you call this- THING that i would like see on sci-fi movies... Not that i'm expecting the MATRIX to be a 2001 or star wars or anything - i do enjoy seeing new movies with fresh and original concepts- but i think the MATRIX failed on the following points--
THE PLOT: as the movie goes- the main charachter Neo played by Keanu
Reeves, who is a software techie and a part time private computer hacker was approached by a certain black dude in cool french coat named Morpheus who presented to him what the real "reality" IS. Thus accd to the dude (Morpheus)'s explanation - the reality that we believe as reality is not really reality at all (gets?) - but are rather manufactured 'virtual reality' of sorts made by each of every individual's brainwave pulse , thus managed by the machine called THE MATRIX (so goes the title)- that in reality, the 'reality' we think that we live in are only mere seemingly solid structures created by the brain, as in the real REALITY- people are all slumped on cascets with mechanical stems of sorts, which thus produces these people to 'experience' the reality that we live in. Hence was the scene that i'm talking about concerning the villain talking to a comrade over a piece of orange as he went on to peel and ate it, he remarked that it's quite a wonder to imagine that the sensation of the orange's taste that he feels in his toungue is only mere illusion and is not because of the orange itself, but is rather because of a preconcieved 'idea' produced by the brain of what an orange taste like. With this premise - i felt it's sense of a nonconvincing premise. Because in the reality we live in (which is not really reality at all as according to this movie's story), every object have their own substance and dimensions and qualities that are independent upon itself and are not driven by imposed concepts of other individuals... that is, if i have put a certain amount of vinegar to an orange fruit - it wouldn't taste that sweet at all regardless of how tasty it may initially seem to another individual, but it would really indeed taste sour because of the vinegar. I mean, with the food we eat, as it is with everything, do we always get the taste that we expect from every bite we take? And so goes the unrealistic explanation for its plot structure. And when a movie or fiction story does not do well with its essence of realistic proportion - it wont work out well as a fiction because it is not convincing. Because for a fiction to turn out well - it would have to have realistic elements, otherwise it would all be just one dopey ride. Furthermore, with the movie's arrogance of trying hard to be so scientific with premises - it still made its turn to incorporate fantasy elements quite surprisingly and dumb even, since they try to give the impression that this is all "science" fiction - when how come all of a sudden we are handed with the stuff dealing with prophecy concerning Neo as a promised Messiah to set free the human race from the control of the Matrix; and as if it weren't enough - the leading lady charachter Trinity was eventually promised as the bride-to-be of sorts for Neo! Give me a break. And thus they even included a scene with Neo being kissed back to life kind of by Trinity.
The fx are humongous alright, but they are exploited even to the point of being unnecessary with the scenes, perhaps so as just to boast of the effects that they have. In particular, the use of the multiple angle camera shot (freeze frame effect), which i first saw on the movie remake of the 60's tv sci-fi LOST IN SPACE - it comes fitting on the scene where it is used on that flick, because the scene involved the time being freezed, unlike here in The Matrix...
I believe my hurried (previous) review submitted is quite comprehensible enough- provided that the reader have seen and understood the plot of the film.

are you philipino (that spelling doesnt look right and I cant be bothered to check it!) Just you said Tagalog, and I used to have a friend that spoke that language, all I can remember is the word for the number 5 (i think its the number 5 anyway!) I quite liked the matrix, on the whole I think most people that didnt like it just didnt understand it, havent see the 2 more recent ones though.

I think you got the movie spot on - it's a pretentious piece of crap that tries far too hard to be clever, constantly throwing jargon at us like they are in the know and us, the poor, dumb audience will lap it up, not understanding what they are on about. This film is just so patronising, I cannot fathom the respect it is given! Also it features one of the most wooden actors in recent memory, Keanu Reeves, which kills it dead for me anyway. Good op.

Review of The Matrix (DVD)
Advantages: Good film, plenty of action, some amazing special effects. Disadvantages: No quality extras, some poor special effects, feels like a money grabbing exercise.
Advantages: Eye-popping visuals, much more smoother plot, and one of the best car chases I've ever seen Disadvantages: Some people may think its more recycled than reloaded
