This is the first DVD opinion I have written. I hope I have covered all the relevant issues.

The matrix is a brilliantly made film, with great acting and directing. A lot of time and effort went into making this film, and I really do think it has paid off.

The story line is mind blowing, to say the least. The world is real, right? WRONG!

The world you live in is a dream world. Nothing is real. The life that you have been living hasn't happened. Your brain is a computer, that has been programmed, to believe everything around you is normal and real. All your memories never happened. You are not the person you thought you were.

With me so far? You meet someone, who gives you two choices, stay as you are or discover the truth. What would you do? A fascinating story unfolds as Neo (Keanu Reeves) learns the astonishing truth.

I am not going to go any further with the story line, as I don't want to give to much away. All I will say is, it is an action packed film with lots of special effects. The story line is mind boggling and the acting is great.

This dvd also has plenty of special features, that will give you plenty more to watch. The special features are:

*The making of the matrix. This explains how the film was made, how the stunts were performed and all about the use of camera angles. There were a lot of cameras used to make this film.

*Follow the white rabbit. If you put this feature on at the start of the movie, a white rabbit appears in the corner of the screen, then you can access the information files on that scene. I like this feature. It is a nice touch.

*Scene access. If you want to see just a certain scene, this option makes it possible. You can choose from 38 scenes.

There is also a dvd rom feature. This feature includes:

*The making of the Matrix

*The white rabbit feature.

*Taking the red pills. This is mind-blowing stuff.

*Choose Kung FU. This lets you access the kung fu fighting scenes. You can jump straight to your favourite fighting scene.

*You can answer questions on the film, about you, to see if you could be "THE ONE".

*Last but not least, you can follow the process of the film from script, to storyboard to the final cut.

My opinion.

This type of film, is something I would normaly stay well clear of. I'm not really into this futuristic, science fiction stuff. This film has totaly converted me. I sat through the whole film, gobsmacked. I was totally amazed.

The acting is of brilliant standard, by all. I think the cast play brilliant parts and they are all very convincing. Keanu Reeves, is just the right person to play Neo. He pulls it off brilliantly.

The special effects are also great. There are plenty of them, and they all have reason for being there. The story line relies heavily on the special effects, but they are great. Very convincing, and very watchable.

I am really looking forward to the sequel, that hopefully will be made in 2003. If it is as good as the first, I can not wait.

The price of this dvd is very reasonable. I bought mine from Woolworths for £16.99. Some shops, like Electronic Boutique and Currys are asking £19.99 for it. It is that good, I would quite gladly have paid £19.99 for it.
