If ever a film was made to show off the DVD format, this is it! Stunning special effects, a storming soundtrack and Keanu Reeves finally erasing the memory of the dire Johnny Mnemonic and that stupid talking dolphin! Everything about The Matrix oozes class - every special effect has been painstakingly created, the script is tight as a drum and the acting totally believable. You really don't need to know anything about the plot; in fact it's probably a better experience for not knowing. Basically, if you have even the slightest interest in sci-fi or action movies then this is a must see movie. To top it all off, the DVD itself shows what can be done with this format when the studio's use their imagination. Behind the scenes documentaries, commentaries, and some fascinating looks at how the best effects sequences were filmed make this perhaps the best all round DVD on the market

Review of The Matrix (DVD)
Advantages: Good film, plenty of action, some amazing special effects. Disadvantages: No quality extras, some poor special effects, feels like a money grabbing exercise.
Advantages: Eye-popping visuals, much more smoother plot, and one of the best car chases I've ever seen Disadvantages: Some people may think its more recycled than reloaded
