WOW..... That one word sums up the Special Effects in the second of the Matrix Trilogy. Following on from the worldwide smash hit that was the Matrix, The Wachowski Brothers are back with another helping of Neo, Morpeous and all the rest of the gang. The second instalment starts off where the first left and although it's well put together you just get the feeling that maybe it was a bit rushed out. Sure the story holds up and we get the chance to see Zion in all its glory but I just felt that maybe the story could have been tweaked a bit to involve more of Agent Smith as he is a key character in all the movies, even as much so as Neo himself. So anyway getting onto the good points first. The special effects like I said before really blew me away when I first saw them. I consider myself a movie goer and have seen plenty of blockbusters try but ultimately fail when they blow most of their budget in the first 30 minutes of a film and then the rest if a long drawn out affair. Thankfully the Matrix Reloaded has no such worries, when you first see the park scene when Neo meets the multiple Agent Smith's for the first time you just cant help but to be impressed by what is going on. More and more agents keep coming on the scene and it was truly ground breaking in its day (much the same way The Matrix was groundbreaking for its bullet-time effects). After that the story introduces a few new characters who we get to know as they will be in the third film and then just when you think that the film is starting to drag a bit we are treated to what is probably the most elaborate motorway scene ever scene is modern film. The action sequence that follows is totally mind blowing and I don't want to spoil the film but all I can say is that it is excellent viewing. So overall the effects and top notch and the story is believable although not as strong as the first film. Now onto the bad points, I felt the way they did the ending was a bit shallow and I know it continues with the third instalment but I just thought they could have done things differently. The whole meeting with the architect was good in theory but really you would have to watch the film about 4 - 5 times to actually understand what he was talking about. Also I felt that Agent Smith should have got more time on the film as I think he was the one character that actually made me like the Matrix in the first place. Overall the film is a hit and I would have no issues at all in watching it to kill a bit of time or even just put on the park scene and watch as Neo goes to town with multiple Agent Smith's. I would recommend this film to everyone who has never seen it although obviously it would help if you watched the first part as well. Out of 10 I would give the Matrix Reloaded a solid 8, let down only by some dodgy dialogue and some static acting. But those special effects mmmmmmm more of the same please Hollywood. Also the sound track is just as good as the first film with an excellent mix of techno and moody music to really get the film goer on the edge of their seat, and after all this is what films should be all about.
Advantages: Great Action Movie Disadvantages: Lost the plot (what happened to the great story line)
...released....
Following on with the MATRIX story line.. Man gets phone call meets new people in long black coats meets new world, new world eats man, man learns new tricks, new tricks, trick man? man finds new world agent finds man finds WHAT? i'm lost now.. Anyway we get to the end of matrix 1 gripped to our seat thinking did i realy understand the simpleness of the film or am i just stupid?
However Matrix reloaded, who would of thought it.. World ... ...of this too far fetched sequal..
However i watched on with amazing effects and great action just no sequence or relevance to the first film, "NO" I was not going mad... its just a highly budgeted action movie with great special effect and a comlicated far fetched story line...... ...

The second part of the Wachowski brothers' Amazing trilogy blasted onto our screens in 2003 with more funding and ground breaking film making. Although the story doesn't directly follow on from Neo's little speech that ended the origial this can be forgiven because of the direction the y now take the film in. Neo has discovered more of his extraordinary powers as 'The One' and the Zion community are worrying about a machine attack. But , whilst still ... ...the films main focus seems to be on Neo's path as he discovers what being the one really means. Lots of money was spent on the now famous bullet time technique which is what the films have become famous for. There is lots of this but as well, there is a lot more real time fighting between people. For example in the fight between Neo and Seraph it mixes modern hollywood fighting with Chinese style wire fu. A very impressive mix of techniques acting ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "The Matrix Reloaded (DVD)"
Advantages: Eye-popping visuals, much more smoother plot, and one of the best car chases I've ever seen Disadvantages: Some people may think its more recycled than reloaded
, and when they felt that they had a proper epic to tell, they decided to make the first one to see how it would do (like George Lucas did with STAR WARS), and the rest is, well, history.
I must say I will definately be looking for MATRIX REVOLUTIONS next month; hell, I might very well go see it at the cinema. Oh, yes, there is a preview of it on the MATRIXRELOADEDDVD at the very end of the film, after the 12-minute credit sequence (see how many people contributed to the making of this film, lol). One more thing I must say, is that I have to admit that a tear came to my eye when Trinity died; like I said, I'm more comfortable with the characters and now, and I think they are starting to grow on me. Warning: if you haven't seen the original, see it first....or you won't understand any of RELOADED. Thanks for checking this review out ...
Advantages: Good film, plenty of action, some amazing special effects. Disadvantages: No quality extras, some poor special effects, feels like a money grabbing exercise.
which stands out with the special effects being very obvious indeed whereas in others, they're almost un-noticeable.
The story can still get quite complicated and I still get the feeling that perhaps the full appreciation of Matrix: Reloaded won't be realised until a viewing of Matrix: Revolutions. I originally thought that a proper understanding of the film wouldn't be achievable until the other sources of information on The Matrix (Enter the Matrix the computer game and The Animatrix DVD) had been experienced, and I feel this still applies to a certain extent, but not as strongly as I did when the film was originally released.
Overall, it's still worth looking at and is a highly enjoyable action movie which has some low points. The over long scenes and practically unintelligible philosophy ultimately do reduce the viewing pleasure but ...
Advantages: Mostly great special effects, superb action sequences Disadvantages: Too much information to digest in one sitting
¤ Final thoughts ¤
To be honest, it's quite hard to judge this. I liked it overall, some of the stunts were amazing, but I thought some of the special effects weren't as ground breaking (or effective) as we were led to believe. With all the unanswered questions and information thrown at me, it will be a while before I fully get my head around this film.
The whole problem, I think, is that the Wachowski's have created too much. The full enjoyment of Reloaded is probably not going to be realised until you have experienced the game "Enter the Matrix" and the upcoming DVD "The Animatrix", both of which add back story and information which could be useful in understanding a lot of what goes on in Reloaded. For example, a passing mention is made of "Osiris", a hovercraft like that of Morpheus' "Nebuchadnezzar" which is destroyed after sending ...

DVD Description
Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) continue their battle against the machines in THE MATRIX RELOADED, the second chapter of Larry and Andy Wachowski's MATRIX trilogy. As RELOADED begins, Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus arrive in Zion with new crew member Link (Harold Perrineau), and discover that 250,000 dreaded sentinels are close to launching a massive attack on the underground haven for the liberated minds of humanity. When Neo seeks advice from the prophetic Oracle (the late Gloria Foster), their meeting leads to a sorely outnumbered fight with Neo's old nemesis, Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving). While the sentinels advance on Zion, various battles within the Matrix continue to escalate, culminating in an extended highway chase sequence involving Morpheus, Trinity, more imposing agents, and two new adversaries--the relentless white-clad Twins (Adrian and Neil Rayment). With RELOADED, the Wachowski brothers delve deeper into both the realm of the Matrix and the apocalyptic, machine-controlled future reality. Initially giving ample attention to both the romance between Neo and Trinity and to the vast underground city of Zion, the film eventually delivers one stunning set piece after another, with the amazing martial arts sequences and jaw-dropping effects of the first MATRIX elevated to even more astounding heights. In addition to the returning cast of Reeves, Moss, Fishburne, Weaving, and Foster, Perrineau and Jada Pinkett Smith make for welcome new additions, and Monica Bellucci offers up an unforgettably sensual appearance. Larger than the original scale on every level, THE MATRIX RELOADED is a thoroughly entertaining sequel that will leave viewers eager for the trilogy's conclusion, THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS.
