I went into the theatre to see this much hyped film with the greatest hope that it would be a spectacle not to be forgotten... Thank God it lived up to expectations. The action, graphics plot and entertainment value were sublime.
The mix of action, thrills and a subtle hint of comedy from a variety of sources make this film a MUST SEE. If you liked the first then this will blow your mind, Neo and the Neba keneza are back and fighting the machines once more but to an even more extreme degree than previous. Some of the most amazing fight sequences i have ever seen took place during this film and not just once but about 3 times!!
A blend of familiar characters along with a host of new add to the interest and concentration level, admittedly not the easiest of plots to follow but me and my girlfriend found it quite easy to follow. However, i am sure that having watched the first helped a great deal. The only disadvantage is the ending, or lack of as you will have to see the last installment due out in November to complete the episode. This final twist in the tail was a surprise and a slight annoyance to what had been a very succesful viewing. The 138 minute film seemed to fly through with such a pace and vigor that i didnt need to check the watch to see how much longer i would need to endure the saga. One of the first films this year to complete this amazing feat.
The graphics as in the first were sublime. I have never seen a film with soo many mind blowing graphically enhanced sequences. The film would not be half as engrossing if it had not had these jaw dropping effects. The basic storyline as per normal is that neo has to save Zion(sion!?) from the machines that threaten all that reside within this underground city. However, a decision has to be made, to save the city or the life of another. Will he make the right choice and will 'the one' fulfill the prophecy of ending the war. And in true matrix style is there a third unkown option that not even we understand?. You will have to see the film to find out.
All i can say is that I enjoyed it thoroughly and found myself smiling at certain points because i was soo impressed with what i was seing. I recommend this film and would and will be giving it a very high rating. I thought that this series could do no more to impress me and thankfully i was wrong, brilliant. Well done to the film makers and keep it up and to all of us ordinary folk. Go and see it now (especially if you enjoyed the first), to anybody anonymous to the first it is worth a viewing just for conversation with your friends or something abstract to talk about after a few beverages.
