...that this night could hold the very meaning of our lives" This is the second part of the Matrix "Trilogy". I don't like calling it a trilogy because it simply isn't. It's a collection of movies, comic strips, games, short stories. The matrix is far bigger than three movies. It is like star wars, but star wars has a far wider reach. I mean the matrix has still remained focussed around a smaller area. So all of the bits fit in far better with each ... ...It's also the most complicated part of the Matrix "Entity". I have already watched this at least 3 times. I've now watched it another 2 times in preparation for this review. I've also intently listened to the speech given by the architect several times to try and decipher it. So here goes.

Advantages: Good entertainment Disadvantages: tooo much hype
Smith, ‘Mr Anderson, the stink of humans is all around; this building is positively overflowing with the odour of your kind, what possibly could attract so many to one place’
Neo, ‘Huh, it’s a cinema; which ever one of you said that’
Morpheus ‘Do you ‘think’ that smell you refer to is ‘real’, do you ‘believe’ that talking in ‘riddles’ adds to the plot’, does wearing ‘black coats’ and ‘shades’ really make us more ‘cool’ and in the slightest bit ... ...over there to talk to the inconsequential French dude’
But I digress
Few Movies have been more hyped, more looked forward to and promised to deliver more than the ‘2nd’ instalment in the ‘Matrix’ trio. It was in my second year as a 3D effects animation student that the original ‘Matrix’ came out and, unfortunately, I never made it to the cinema to see it. Not so with it’s highly anticipated sequel (sorry, I don’t subscribe to the trilogy ethic), ...

Advantages: Good film, plenty of action, some amazing special effects. Disadvantages: No quality extras, some poor special effects, feels like a money grabbing exercise.
...response. Some people just loved the action packed nature, whereas others liked the complicated philosophy attached to the story. Opinion was divided with most people going to either extreme, and few sought the middle ground.
Now, six months down the line, with a bit of perspective and hindsight, how does Matrix Reloaded measure up?

In this time, Neo has become more comfortable with his role and his new found abilities and the group of rebels who have already been extracted are living their lives in the last city of humanity, Zion. This group of people is continually waging war with the A.I. entities in the hope of finally being ...

Advantages: The action and effects are bigger and better. Disadvantages: Loss of originality, screenplay is less absorbing.
The intense anticipation, hysterical hype and overwhelming clamour of expectation that preceded the release of The Matrix Reloaded could all be adequately captured in one simple question - Would it live up to its most illustrious predecessor? To answer the question I’d like to take you back four years to the release of said predecessor, a film that redefined a genre and easily lifted the bar for action films (which is what the Matrix is at ... ...only to enrapt and enrich the viewing experience. It left an audience disorientated, questioning our existence, mesmerised by the action sequences and blown away by the sheer audacious style and execution of a truly original movie. With these thoughts in mind it is no surprise that The Matrix Reloaded fails to live up to the original, but how could it? Stripped as it is of said originality and loaded by expectation to raise the bar to new and more ...

Advantages: Some sequences are good on the eye Disadvantages: A little too silly in parts, and a slow first hour
...should have gone to watch the film, rather than the baseball game. Having now seen the film, I have to feel as if I made the right choice.
I've now waited 10 days after my original intentions to see the film, and I have to say that it really wasn't worth the wait. Sure, it looks pretty good, and there are special effects and impressive stunts all over the place. But this was also true of the first film, and this time around it all just feels a little ... ...was so ground breaking at the time, particularly with regards to the effects used, that the public expects even more this time around. But when you've created a new method of filming, and some of the most impressive fight scenes in film, how much further can you go? The answer? Over the top!
As with the recent "X-Men" sequel, this film suffers slightly from not explaining anything from the past. If you're one of apparently few people who didn't ...
