Advantages: Fast paced, funny and engaging Disadvantages: Occasionally film-schooly in its execution
's a talented actor but has a tendency to accept roles that defang him and this is yet another.
Joshua Ralph's original score and plays against type for this kind of movie, sticking with a largely classical style. The film opens with a suite of harp and brooding strings that sets the scene and ramps up the tension with rising drums, reedy flutes, tense cellos and pounding rhythms. There are flourishes of harpsichord and strident deep brass while archetypal private eye sax motifs occasionally appear. There is a smattering of playful flutes that add a lighter tone, offset by reverberating chimes and piano as ends are tied. The soundtrack also adds to the retro feel of the movie with old-style soul and a rendition of "Kansas City Shuffle" that closes out proceedings.

Advantages: Pretty actors, nice songs, nice scenery Disadvantages: Mithun Chakraborty was not good!
reach into the screen and slap him hard! Which is a shame cos I really used to rate this guy when I was younger, even had a crush on him when I was a teenager, LOL.
There are various scenes where the dialogue is in Russian but there are no subtitles for these scenes, so it's left to your imagination as to what was said. There's also a long period when the 2 leads are hiding out in a graveyard, which drags on a bit. The best bit about the graveyard scenes was when Adi finds out Lucky's name when he starts ranting about if ever anyone had a name which didn't suit their luck it's her. Quite a funny scene there to watch!

These films became the new film noir for the MTV generation. A distinctive style which brought together fast cutting, evocative music combined with a lot of dark humour developed and 'Lucky Number Slevin' is the latest exponent of this sub genre.
