Two weeks ago I planned to go to the cinema on the following Wednesday to see the new film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. I was quite looking forward to the event. However I was disappointed when I read the showing times of the film , on the Cineworld website the day before. It stated that the last showing of the film was 4:40 although I was working until 5pm and it takes at least an hours drive to get to my local cineworld. Because I was looking forward to going to the cinema so much to see that film , I didn't want to cancel the event , and therefore decided to go and see the Love Guru instead , although I wasn't sure what to expect.
The Love Guru is about Pikita. Pikita is an American who grew up in India. He is now a guru. His challenge throughout the film is to get a famous American hockey player back with his wife , because since their split , his team have been losing their games ever since.
The Love Guru stars Jessica Alba , Mike Myers and Justin Timberlake. The film comes under the comedy genre. Running time of the movie is 87 minutes. The film is a PG movie.
To be honest I did not enjoy this film at all. It is meant to be a comedy although I think there was only about 3 jokes maximum that I found slightly funny. The jokes were cheesy and the main character was annoying ; especially when he laughed at all of his own jokes , and kept repeating them over and over again , as though we hadn't heard how poor they were the first time. Once again , considering this is a comedy , there wasn't much laughter from the audience I watched this with. Another actor who annoyed me in this film was Justin Timberlake. Like Mike Myers , I found he over reacted and was not funny at all. When I found out Justin was in the film , I assumed it would be good , for such a huge star to appear in it , however I was completely wrong. To be brutally honest I think this is the stupidest film I have ever seen. Although the plot was simple ; the guru was trying to get the husband and wife back together ; the film was made confusing as it kept going on and on , and focusing on other points , and therefore made it difficult viewing , especially for younger children. I think this film was a 'any-reason-for-a-film- if you get what I mean. I was bored throughout this movie and couldn't wait for it to end! I think , if I hadn't paid £7 for my ticket , then I would have got up and left early! I kept thinking 'this is really bad…but maybe it will get better' but it just didn't. Another thing which annoyed me was how the Guru spoke to the camera and said things like 'TM' after everything he said. This film was just cringey to watch. Unfortunately I was so mad about how poor this movie was , that I cannot remember anything I liked about it! Kids around the age of 7 or 8 might find the jokes funny , but I did not enjoy this film at all! Save your money and time - don't go and see this!
