Harry Potter, the movie of the year? Not now mate, your reign of terror is well and truly over.

Lord of the Rings is THE movie of the year and probably THE movie of the decade - it's that good.

Now as I clutched my little ticket queuing up at Cineworld The Movies, it was with more than a little treepidation. Let's face it, the book is a classic and so detailed and gripping - how could nay movie do it justice?

Give it the benefit of doubt I thought. I'm glad I did because this movie is brilliant.

The story goes that Bilbo, a hobbit, reaches his 111th birthday, and promptly disappears at his own party. You see, he has a magic ring which grants invisibility.

But thats not all, as his nephew Frodo finds out when he realises Bilbo has gone travelling and the ring is his.

The ring is needed by the evil Sauron to take over the world with evil and it must be destroyed.

Some great performances from Christopher Lee, Elijah Wood, Sean Bean et al, and the special effects are amazing, check out the orcs in particular - scary!

Although the film is rated PG, I think its for over tens really because some of the creatures are quite scary. I agree with previous writers that the cave troll was lame - about as frightening as Shrek!

You HAVE to go see this, the atmosphere, the story, the visuals make for a fantastic adventure - NOT TO BE MISSED!!
