Pretty sure that this film "LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY " have been reviewed many times. But I would still like to share my experience with this brilliant film by Peter Jackson. Everything about this film is perfect! I would suggest you to sit tight and don't let anyone disturb you while watching it, you will definitely miss something important if you did. Actually it happened to me so i just warn you! Don't make the same mistake as i did. Luckily i have the DVD set and i can watch it anytime i want to. Anyways here are some briefing on what to expect.
The Lord of the Rings film trilogy consists of three live action fantasy epic films: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003). The trilogy is based on the three-volume book The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. While they follow the book's general storyline, the films also feature some additions to and deviations from the source material.

TRILOGY On the first part which is The fellowship of the ring. The story began when the Elven Smith created the ring of power to rule the world but the Dark Lord Sauron forged and created a ring to rule them all. The ring was then lost in many years and lay to the hands of Bilbo Baggins who is Frodo's uncle. It was then went to Frodo's possesion ,a hobbit from the shire. Gandalf the grey have discovered the powerful ring and advised Frodo to take it away from the shire. Together with his friends , Sam, Merry and Pippin. They were able to take it to Rivendell, and from there, they formed the fellowship of the ring which consist of men, hobbits, dwarf, elf and gandalf the wizard. The fellowship is bound to protect Frodo and guide him to mount doom to destroy the one ring of Sauron. Sarumon an old fried of Gandalf have tried everything for them not to succeed. Together they face the trials and fight side by side.
On the second part which is The Two Towers, the fellowship was divided . Sam and Frodo travelled on their own and found a guide named Gollum, who used to have the ring. While Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli searched for the hobbit, Merry and Pippin. Along the way, they met Gandalf who have returned as gandalf the white. The fellowship continue their quest and help the people of Rohan to win the battle against Sarumon and his army.
The last part of the trilogy is the Return Of The King. Gandalf managed to lead Gondor's army with the help of King Theoden of Rohan. Though they were outnumbered, Aragorn faced the soul of traitors who were cursed by the King of Gondor. He asked them to fight for him in exchange for their freedom. Finally the middle earth war has ended and they win the battle. But still Frodo haven't reach the mountain of doom. Aragorn decided to take his army to black gate to distract Sauron's Eye. With the help of Sam , Frodo have destroyed the One ring.
CONCLUSION I still remember the first time I've seen this film on the bigscreen, I can't wait to have my own copy on DVD. I have found my favourite film of all time! I can watch it over and over again and i won't get bored, every time i watch it i always feel the intense and the quality of perfection done by extended version of Peter Jackson, complete epic big screen adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. The amount of material, effort, creativity and design are mind blowing. It has a 12 disc including the making and other special features that you will definitely appreciate. Even if your not a fan of fantasy or adventure film , this is really worth having for. I am glad to own one and was able to watch it with my children and i still plan to do it as well with my grandchildren, because i don't want them to miss the most memorable film of our time, that's how good it is in my point of view. I am a true fan so anyone who have hesitations of getting this trilogy box set, don't be because it is definitely the best DVD box set collection you could ever own.

Well reviewed. Lord of the Rings was definitely my sort of film. I read the books and of course the movie couldn't put everything in, but it was good just the same. :-) Derek

I watched this trilogy on the small screen over a space of time, highly frustrated having to wait days before the next ones were on !! Nicely explained.

Advantages: Good filming. Good Kiwi ingenuity. Good story. Excellent adaptation. Disadvantages: Possibly a bit too long for those unaccustomed to LOTR.
Advantages: You have all three films together so you'll never have to wonder what happens next!! Disadvantages: Well if you get bored of them then you have spent quite a lot of money.
