As with the Fellowship of the Ring, this Extended Edition has extended scenes and additional scenes which add depth and scope to the entire story. ____________________________________________ Story: The Two Towers is the second film in the trilogy. It picks up where the first film left off, Peter Jackson's THE TWO TOWERS throws the remaining members of the Fellowship into the scattered chaos of Middle-earth, now fully under siege by the forces of Sauron. While Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) journey to the dreaded Mordor, Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) are held captive by orcs, and Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) search for their abducted companions. Soon Frodo and Sam are joined by the sulking and duplicitous Gollum (portrayed by the voice and motion-captured acting of Andy Serkis), who becomes their guide through the barren lands leading to Mount Doom. Meanwhile Merry and Pippin encounter the looming Treebeard (voiced by Rhys-Davies) and Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli find themselves in the land of Rohan, accompanied by an old friend. As the tale continues, each scenario becomes more perilous, and fierce battles erupt at both Isengard, home of the treacherous Saruman (Christopher Lee), and the massive Helm's Deep. ______________________________________________ Direction: Jackson continues the trilogy with this delightful adaptation. He has adapted it slightly but has not missed the feeling of despair and fear that is flowing across Middle Earth. Yet again he delivers amazing landscapes and wide angled shots to show the viewer the vastness of Middle Earth. The CGI comes into its own with battles ranging from orcs riding the back of monsters through to 10,000 orcs trying to breach Helms Deep. While all this is going on Jackson has managed to keep the story on the Ring and it's journey with Frodo and Sam. He focus' on Frodos fight with the power of the Ring. Masterful. ______________________________________________ Disk Features: As with the Fellowship of the Ring, the film is on the first two disks and on the other 2 there are Documentaries, Design Galleries, Photo Galleries and Images. ______________________________________________ Overall: This film gives you a taste of battles to come. It stays as true to the book as possible and the 2 separate quests continue their journey. This DVD is a must if you have the first one because it fulfills your expectation and wets you appetite for the Return of the King. Stunning.

Advantages: still as epic in scope and visuals, great acting, final battle is atmospheric and affecting, extra footage fleshes the story out nicely Disadvantages: I still didn't find it quite as magical as the first
