I really enjoyed this film. This is mainly because I think Adam Sandler is a great actor and a funny guy and also I love american football - which this film is about.
Paul Crewe (Adam Sandler) is an ex-pro football star who left football because of docking points in a game, however he is still crazy about football. His girlfriend is throwing a party downstairs whilst Crewe is just getting drunk watching the game. He gets annoyed with his girlfriend and so takes her new Bentley for a drive - whilst drunk. He gets pulled over by the cops on accounts of the car being reported stolen and so Crewe drives off, a car chase in the making. By the time he wants to give up, he has about 7 cop cars chasing him and also a police helicopter on his tail. So Crewe stops in the middle of the road and all the cop cars crash into his girlfriend's brand new Bentley.
Crewe gets sent to jail in the desert where the warden is obsessed with football and knows about Crewe's ability's. He needs Crewe to be the coach for his team of guard's. Instead Crewe says that what the guards team need is an easy team to play against to get their spirits up ... who better than the prisoners! So Crewe gets to work on building a prisoner team to play against the guards.
The film shows you all the training and practice matches for the prisoner team and how they plan to get at the guards and beat them! Something they have been longing to do.
The time for the big game finally comes and it is action-packed. The prisoners are doing very well but the ref is biased, so Crewe gave him some painful treatment :-P. However when the prisoners are winning, at half-time the warden comes up to Crewe and tells him to let the guards win or he will spend his lifetime in jail...there is one thing for Crewe to do and that is to obey the warden...or is it?
This film is great - 1 of my all time favourites, definately Adam Sandler's number 1! Definately watch!
