comes across a universal remote that allows him to perform TV-like functions on his life such as pausing events or fast-forwarding over them. When the remote begins creating its own memory and choosing what to fast-forward over the man sees how much of his personal life has passed him by and realizes the importance of spending more time with his family. The Longest Yard: In the role of Paul "Wrecking" Crewe first immortalized by Burt Reynolds (who appears here as Nate Scarborough) Sandler plays an ex-football star whose career ended amidst allegations of point shaving. Fed up he drunkenly steals his unfriendly wife's (an uncredited Courtney Cox Arquette) luxury car and drives it into a multi-car pileup. This lands Crewe in a cruel Texas state penitentiary. His only respite comes from Warden Hazen (James Cromwell) who wants Crewe to help lead his well-equipped prison-guard football team to the league championship. Crewe timorously agrees suggesting the creation of an opposing team of convicts to the give the guards an easy tune-up before the season. To the ragtag inmates this is the chance they've been waiting for and they hustle to get their team together so they can exact some revenge on the harassing guards. I love Adam Sandler films so I was really pleased to have received this as a gift. This boxed set contains 3 of his films on 3 separate DVDs, The Longest Yard, Big Daddy and Click.
The weakest film of the bunch, in my opinion is The Longest Yard. It's not a bad film by any means and worth watching, but, equally, it's not one of Sandler's best films. The film is a remake of a film starring Vinnie Jones. Sandler plays an ex (American) football player who gets arrested for drunken behaviour. He gets sentenced and ends up in prison. After some 'persuasion' from the warden, he trains up the inmates to play football, against the guards, and, basically, to allow them to get some revenge on the guards that treat them like dirt. This film also stars Chris Rock and Burt Reynolds.
Big Daddy is a fairly good film. Sandler's character basically has a kid dumped on him. The kid is actually his flatmate's child, but, his flatmate is unaware of this and in Japan! So, Sandler takes care of the kid as best he can and grows to quite enjoy looking after the child. Basically, the kid helps turn his character around from being a lazy idiot into a respected member of society! (Typical Sandler stuff). All in all, it's a good film with decent acting from the kid. Rob Schneider plays his (usual) role very well.
Finally Click, one of his more recent fillms is included. This is a weird one as it's not sure what type of genre it wants to be. Sandler's character is a hard worker who neglects his family in a bid to get promoted. He works for a smarmy character played by David Hasselhoff. One thing leads to another and he buys a remote control which he finds can control time, i.e. allow him to pause and ffwd time. The remote is a learning remote and slowly takes over his life by automating it. As the film goes on, it becomes quite sad and more serious as the character sees all that he's lost buy abusing the control. I won't spoil the ending by talking about this any more but, I do highly recommend it as it is quite a touching film with many redeeming features.
A good box of Sandler films with something to please everyone.

DVD Description
Features the Adam Sandler comedies THE LONGEST YARD, CLICK, and BIG DADDY. In THE LONGEST YARD, an ex-football star whose career ended amidst allegations of point shaving drunkenly steals his unfriendly wife's luxury car and drives it into a multi-car pileup. This lands Crewe in a cruel Texas state penitentiary. His only respite comes from Warden Hazen who wants Crewe to help lead his well-equipped prison-guard football team to the league championship. Crewe timorously agrees, suggesting the creation of an opposing team of convicts to the give the guards an easy tune-up before the season. To the ragtag inmates, this is the chance they've been waiting for, and they hustle to get their team together so they can exact some revenge on the harassing guards. In CLICK, overworked Michael Newman just can't catch a break. His boss doesn't want to hear that he has family commitments, and his family is upset that he never has time for them. His breaking point: the multitude of remote controls in the house are driving him nuts, and Michael ventures out late one evening in search of a universal remote control to simplify his life. Michael returns home armed with a top-of-the-line universal remote, but soon realises that it does more than control the household appliances: the new remote actually works on time and people. In BIG DADY, Sonny Koufax is dumped by his girlfriend for an older man making him realise that he really has to grow up in order to win her back. Adopting a five-year-old son is an attempt to impress her - but she's not impressed.
