Each episode starts with the great theme tune of the Liver Birds song, whilst Sandra (Nerys Hughes) and Beryl (Polly James) are shown in several parts of 70's Liverpool, including on one of the old buses with the conductor. As I've always been fascinated with fashion of different era's I was hooked on watching the various fashions through the epidoes; the ultra-mini-mini-skirts, knee high boots, big hair do's, the make-up and the way of living. Eventually I was hooked on the adventures of Beryl and Sandra and just had to get the only DVD of it that there is. The adventures of dating the right men, dating the wrong men, helping others before themselves and somehow ending up in a mess before everything works out for the best.

This is a good thing considering there seems to be no record of any series 1 DVD so you have to get a jist if you havn't seen it on TV.

I find this is a must have for young women (like myself) simply for the laughs, 'full circle' fashion idea and inspirational confidence to 'get away' with mini skirts and knee high boots. They also glamourise working in the make-up and beauty section of a department store and renting with friends. I love it and watch it over and over and hope to one day become Sandra (haha).

The Box Set can be bought from Amazon for around £8.85, recommended if you don't mind poor humour but appreciate the lifestyle and mini-skirts.
