This is a review of the film only. The DVD is available as a region 2 from Amazon from £3.98.
It is easy to forget, in the computer age that is 2009, that animated films were once all hand drawn; each cell painstakingly illustrated; backgrounds pencilled and inked, the artists? hands shaping the final product. A Ralph Bakshi film is immediately recognisable as coming from his studio, and instantly distinguishable from an offering from the Disney conglomerate. To modern eyes, much of the animation from the late 20th Century may seem primitive, lacking the 3D rendering of today?s computer generated products, and also lacking the consistency of style that most modern animated popular cinematic films seem to have.
The Last Unicorn dates from 1982, and comes from the pen of Peter S Beagle, adapted by Mr Beagle from his novel of the same ...
Advantages: great family film Disadvantages: quality of film depends on the DVD and who it is bought from
The little mermaid is one of the best disney films ever made, the second film was just as successful, the newer film which was released on the 26th August, which i have not yet watched but have seen the trailers and it seems very good. The original film (the first one) was great to watch and was definatly my favourite, but that may be changed by the 3rd film which i am just about to watch! The film has okay graphics and a very good story line. I have watched this film over and over again and it is a great family film and an especaly good film for young children to watch and is suitable for all ages. The film is directed by a fab director, graphics designers and everyone involved in the making of The Little Mermaid. ...
Advantages: cute songs, enjoyable two part DVD Disadvantages: graphics slightly basic
My Little Ponies are back in force and 2005 saw the release of the entire collection of My Little Pony DVDs from Hasbro. Although its a new DVD they graphics are based very much on the old fashioned 1980's style ponies and the songs are very oldy worldy too. However as a manic my little pony fan I had to buy them all. A bit like pokemon, but with added glitter.
My niece adores my little pony and thought the world of me when I unveild the collection. Timeless cuteness and beautiful animation is what I beleive keeps these little equie cuties a lasting favourite.
