The Little Mermaid must be one of the best Disney films ever. The story is enchanting and will be enjoyed be people of any age. One thing I particularly like about the Disney version is that they changed the ending to make it happy, making it better than many other interpretations of the story. It is great to finally see it on DVD format, and although it is widescreen, I wonder why it isn't show in the original aspect ratio of 1.75:1. This is the sort of film you can watch over and over again, and with DVD that is finally possible, without worrying about wearing out your video tape, and then having to wait at least another 7 years for a re-release. Although there are no extras, the subtitles can be useful for singing along if you don’t know all of the words. This DVD is great fun for everybody and is definitely well worth buying.
