ProQuick-witted, return to form for Willis

ConsThe DVD extras

For some, Bruce Willis has fashioned a fine acting career from little actual acting talent. For those in that camp, they'll point to the usual Willis actioners in which, more often than not, he'll run around wearing little but sweat spray, a gun and a vest. Others will point to his fine...

ConsToo much swearing. No extras on DVD

Have you ever known a person whose life is so bad, so messed up and so totally buggered that you thanked god it was not you? If you have I am sure you can sympathise with Joe Hallenbeck (Bruce Willis). Not that he warrants much sympathy being proud to be a self confessed bastard, but I do not...

...You have to say something cool first!" (groan) I have a history with this film going back to its original cinema release back in 1991; although I never saw it at the cinema, and in fact I never saw it for a good few years afterwards, the ad had been peeping out at me from every american comic...

You can see the wheels turning in the Hollywood studio machine: take one Bruce Willis, one undistinguished black sidekick who wishes he was as funny as Eddie Murphy, the writer of Lethal Weapon and the director of 'Top Gun', leave to fester for an hour and a half, and what do you get: money...

ConsIt's all been done before

Which is no surprise really, as the founder of the scout movement would be turning in his grave if any of his scouting proteges had turned out anything like Bruce Willis in this cheesy 1991 feel-good detective movie. It’s what the papers would probably term ‘an enjoyable romp’...

Believe it or not it's been 10 years since The Last Boy Scout first appeared on cinema screens. Perhaps then it's time for another look to see how it's aged. I seem to remember that it was greeted quite well at the time, with some favourable reviews and a healthy dose of box office success. After...

I am not too sure why, but this movie seemed to go unnoticed. Whether it was because of the American Football content, the unknown Daman Wayans or maybe because people preferred seeing Bruce Willis wearing a white vest in an awkward situation...I don't know. This movie is a belter. Shane Black's...

Joe Hallenbeck was one of the country's top Secret Service agents. Unfortunately, for him Joe had a run-in with a grubby politician. One set-up later and Hallenbeck had lost his career, his income, the whole lot but his gun. James Dix was a star quarterback for the L.A. Stallions. Again an...

Product Information : The Last Boy Scout (DVD)

Manufacturer's product description

Bruce Willis stars as Joe Hallenbeck, a disillusioned former Secret Service agent who has hit rock bottom as a detective for hire. His marriage is on the rocks, his adolescent daughter has a smart mouth, he drinks too much, and he's broke. Hallenbeck takes an assignment protecting Cory (Halle Berry), the stripper girlfriend of Jimmy Dix (Damon Wayans), a former professional football player banned from the league for gambling. When Cory is murdered gangland style, Hallenbeck teams up with the former football hero to find the killers. Their search leads them deep into the world of professional football, politics, legalized gambling and sadistic hitmen. LETHAL WEAPON screenwriter Shane Black wrote the script for this violent, action-packed thriller directed by Tony Scott (TOP GUN, TRUE ROMANCE). Willis plays Hallenbeck with a sadistic glint in his eye and a deathwish. Wayans is convincing as Dix, an athlete who loses everything when he's banned from the game he loves and turns to drugs for consolation.
