Trouble is, it's a long-distance relationship. She's in downtown Chicago. He's in a remote lakeside suburb. And there's more: She's in 2006. He's in 2004. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock team for the first time since Speed for this heart-lifting story of a love that transcends time. It begins when Kate moves out of her visually stunning lake house and leaves a note for the next tenant, architect Alex Wyler. They begin a correspondence and soon come to realise they are meant for each other...and that, somehow, they live two years apart. Can they ever meet? What would happen if they tried? Magical and emotionally rich, The Lake House is a love story for 2004, for 2006, for all times. Special Features: Additonal Scenes And Outtakes, Theatrical Trailer. Language Option: English>>2
Advantages: Touching romance, Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves Disadvantages: Not very believable
...letter to its new tenant. The reply leaves her confused; the new tenant, Alex Wyler, appears to think that he is the first tenant in the house for some time and he claims that he is living in 2004, when Kate is living 2006. The pair work out that the post box outside the lake house is some kind of catalyst that is enabling them to make contact across time. Slowly, they fall in love through their letters, although they think that they will never be ... ...met in the past and they try to arrange a time to meet again. Will it work? Or are they destined to remain apart? I watched this film shortly after having watched Premonition, which also stars Sandra Bullock, and I have to admit that once again she has impressed me. Kate is quite a complex character; she is a single woman who struggles to see the point of life until she starts corresponding with Alex. Although I'm used to seeing Sandra Bullock in ...

The Lake House
Kate Forster (Sandra Bullock) is a doctor, living in 2006 (when the movie starts) and she has just moved out of the Lake House. Alex Wyler (Keanu Reeves) is a contractor, just moving into the Lake House, living in 2004. They begin correspondence through a 'magic mailbox'. Initially sceptical as to whether this can be happening (well wouldn't you be too!?), they decide it is, and strike up a friendship, which begins to turn into a ... ...Alex actually meets the 2004 Kate a couple of times, but of course she doesn't remember it's him because he's just another guy to her then. They also arrange a meet so that Kate can know who he is, but it goes wrong and he doesn't turn up - she doesn't know why. For a while this jeopardises everything and she pushes him away, like she does with everybody else. They also share the same dog, a female who goes by the name of Jack. During the movie the ...

Advantages: Great story, easy to follow, well written, excellent performances, wonderful sound track, beautiful scenery Disadvantages: Some of the scenes are a bit far fetched
...I saw this movie at the video store, I immediately wanted to buy it, even though I hadn't seen it. First of all, it was Keanu and I love Keanu. Next, it was Sandra Bullock - another of my favourites. And they were so good together in Speed, they seemed to have a real chemistry. So, when I read the back of the movie box it sounded very intruiging. A love story about two lonely people who should be together. Sandra Bullock plays Kate Forster, a busy ... ...Very different times. The movie opens up with Kate moving out of the lake house with her dog, Jack, and leaving a letter for the next occupant of the house in the mail box. In her letter she explains that she doesn't know where the paw prints on the walk came from, nor the box of stuff in the attic. She also explains that she is moving to Chicago, if the new owner could forward any mail to her. She is going to work at a busy hospital where she soon ...

The Lake House is an interesting and intelligent romantic drama that has two strong leads, a fascinating central premise and more than a few moment of appealing beauty and grace. Despite a few flaws in both concept and execution it manages to construct an engaging and sweet story and garners a huge amount of good will…. Tis true that the central plot device is highly implausible (a fact which critics have made much of) but the project ...

The Lake House (2006)
Drama/Fantasy/Romance
Sandra Bullock
Keanu Reeves
The Lake House is a film about connection. About two people whose love spans time. Not in the normal way though - these two people are separated by two years. When they first discover each other, one is in 2006 and the other is in 2004. A curious premise for a film to work with, but somehow the director pulls it off very successfully. It is definitely a chick flick, but it ... ...the beginning of the film, you feel certain as you watch that everything is going to be fine, that of course there will be a happy ending. As the film goes on, and you are pulled deeper into the story, you begin to wonder how could this possibly work? How can it possibly end well? I think that is the mark of great scriptwriting, to have us hanging on the edge of our seats, wondering, and the performances and on screen chemistry of Bullock and Reeves, ...

DVD Description
Directed by Alejandro Agresti (VALENTIN), THE LAKE HOUSE reunites Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves for the first time since 1994's smash hit SPEED in this love story that transcends the limitations of time. When Doctor Kate Forster (Bullock) moves from a unique glass lake house to Chicago, she leaves a note in the mailbox for the new tenant asking that they forward any stray mail and apologizing for some mild inconveniences at the house that were there when she arrived, including paw prints in the entryway. Architect Alex Wyler (Reeves) moves in and finds Kate's note in the mailbox, but is confused--he responds that there are no paw prints to be found, and as far as he knows, the house has been empty for quite some time. When a stray dog runs past him as he is working on the entryway and leaves the trail of paw prints that Kate mentioned, Alex realizes that they are living in different years. Nonplussed by this odd turn of events, Alex and Kate continue to correspond via notes and letters left in the lake house mailbox. Soon they are sharing their secrets, confiding in each other, and falling in love. The film follows each character in his/her current time, chronicling Alex's relationship with his brother (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and estranged father (Christopher Plummer), as well as Kate's relationship with on-again/off-again boyfriend, Morgan (Dylan Walsh). As in all great love stories, Kate and Alex will ultimately have to take a chance. Can he wait for her until they are together in time? Will they each make the choices that ultimately allow them to be together? Only time will tell. Based on the South Korean film IL MARE, this visually appealing film makes wonderful use of Chicago and its architecture. Bullock and Reeves are both solid and likeable in the lead roles, bringing to life the wistfulness that Kate and Alex feel.
