Of course, most people know the story of Edward Kelly, or more famously, Ned Kelly, the great Australian 'Outlaw'. But why was he given this name. This story tries to paint the picture that writer Robert Drewe portrays in his book, one of the many therorys about the infamous Irish/Australian. And so to the film. It starts out 3 years before the major part of the movie, when Ned, played by Heath Ledger, is wrongly imprisoned for stealing a horse. It then goes to him being released, and met by his friends for a homecoming. Ned decides to be the model citizen, and not give the Victoria Police any more excuses to pick on him and his family, but of course, there's bound to be trouble. Ned's sister has caught the eye of one of the policemen, but of course, she knocks him back, and he's not very happy about it at all. So displeased he ...

The Adventures Of Ned And His Ugly Beard

Advantages: A few good scenes. Geoffrey Rush.
Disadvantages: Ledger is awful, it has a terrible soundtrack and a muddled tone.

Living so near to a Cinema has its advantages but also its disadvantages, namely that you feel compelled to go and see every bit of rubbish that comes out. Over the last two weeks I have been to see almost every new release mostly out of boredom as being at University gives you a lot of free time. The decision to see Ned Kelly was unexpected as we were hoping to see Matchstick Men, but with that unavailable it was Ned or Calendar Girls. Guess what we chose. I was wary of this from the start because despite a Director with a recent hit (Buffalo Soldiers), he was now tackling a difficult story and working with a hot but inexperienced cast. Heath Ledger, who stars as the eponymous Ned may be a superstar but a talented actor he isn?t. His few starring roles to date have barely tested him as an actor with only Ten Things I Hate About You ...

Koala cuteness!

Advantages: nice story
Disadvantages: not for all

From an early age I have been an avid reader. I used to love a lot of 'collections' as a child, such as The Jolly Postman, Mr Men books, and of course the Animal Ark series. These amazing books written by Lucy Daniels is a collection about an animal lover named Mandy Hope. One of the titles is Koalas in a Crisis. The cover of the book is very important, I feel, as it is when we make our first impressions. I personally think that this particular book is one that melts you straight away. We can see a picture of a mother koala climbing a tree, with her little baby koala on her back. Its very sweet and certainly made me 'aww' straight away. I couldnt wait to read. The book is about Mandy and how she visits an animal sanctuary. She loves the koalas and spends a lot of time around them. But she is shocked to learn that they are in danger ...
