Billy does ballet
Review of Billy Elliot DVD by  chuckb

Advantages: an exellent film
Disadvantages: only a film to see once

...As you probably all know by now, Billy Elliot is the story of a young boy who joind a ballet class. Well, i'm just going to tell you a bit about the film, because too much information will spoil it if you decide to watch it. Billy Elliot (Jamie Bell) is an 11 year old boy who lives in Newcastle with his dad, older brother and grandmother. His mother died when he was younger. Billy's dad sends him to boxing class every week, whist at ine of his boxing lessons, Billy stumbles across a ballet class and starts to join in. He becomes good at it and every week instead of boxing he does ballet. His ballet teacher helps him to learn ballet and gets him an audition at the royal school of ballet. A must for ballet lovers
Review of Spartacus - The Bolshoi Ballet DVD by  darklady2002

Advantages: Great Ballet - great music- wonderful dancing
Disadvantages: no ballet is as good on dvd as live- filming of ballets from russia is inferior

...I saw this ballet live many years ago and the music and dancing by the Bolshoi is exciting and wonderful. Irek is one of the strongest male dancers in the world- one of the greats, and this is the role where he stated he lost half a stone during the performance- so much energy demanded in the role. The two ladies - his beautiful wife, and the seductive partner of Krassus (his enemy) are outstanding. The music includes the beloved theme used in the onedin line in the 70s ( that everyone bought as soon as they heard it used for the tv series.) A must for the collection of great ballets owned by any ballet lover! A rare and wonderful treat where a great star shines.... Read review

NEW YORK CITY BALLET WORKOUT 2000
Review of New York City Ballet Workout DVD by  MelanieBolch

Advantages: Very well structured exercises, suitable for all abilities
Disadvantages: some exercises a little difficult

...Having not done ballet since I was about 10 or 11, now I'm in my 30's I was unsure whether or not I would be able to do this workout, I managed it although I had to do it in 2 halves and although I found my feet weren't placed exactly right I still managed to get a good workout. This Dvd is good for toning up muscles you never realised you had, and it start's off at a gentle pace and gradually increases and because it is placed in small sections (17 of them!) you get to work every bit of your body. Ballet exercises are good for all over toning! It is good for both beginner's and experience users/dancers alike, and I definitely recommend it!!... Read review
