Review: "...Olivier provides a zesty centerpiece for THE JIGSAW MAN....[It] moves briskly..." (New York Times, p.C4, 24/08/1984)
...This thriller/horror film was fantastic, it starts off with Dr Lawrence Gordon wakening up from being drugged and finding himself chained to a pipe in a dingy bathroom, with another man opposite him in the same predicament, chained to a pipe. Without knowing it these 2 men are the latest victims of the Jigsaw Killer, a maniac who uses traps to test his victims dedication to their lifes. The 2 victims are given 6 hours, a hacksaw and a bullet to try and figure how to get out. The doctors family have been kidnapped and he is also fighting against the clock to rescue them as well, on the trail of the jigsaw killer is Detective David Tapp who is an equally insane cop and was once the victim of the jigsaw killer himself. The majority of the film is based on the 2 victims in the bathroom, but you do see other shots of the life behind...

...Well I am on a mission with the Saw movies, I was really impressed with Saw which I only watched a couple of days ago, that I couldn't wait to watch the sequel SAW 2.
I left off in Saw astounded by the twists and turns that this film had. I was not ancipating the ending and it sure did come as a shock to me when you realised that who you actually thought was the Jigsaw was in actual fact the person that the game was on, and that Jigsaw had been present in that derelict bathroom, for the whole time leaving the chain up two to think that it was in fact a dead man who had blown his own brains out. Very clever!
Saw 2 has much more budget than Saw. Saw was very low budget and you could tell it was, where as they have thrown a hell of a lot more money into this sequel that was produced. Saw 2 starts with a recap of what happened at the end...
