The Incredible Journey (DVD)

...Where to start? As this appears to be the first reveiw for Mary Bryant I will try my best to describe fully. Set in the late 18th century, The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant, tells the true story of a 19 year old convict, one of the first to be sent to Botany Bay - a new penal colony that is what we now know as Sydney, Australia. Mary (played by Romola Garai), originally from Cornwall, was forced by hunger, to steal a bonnet and bag from an innocent passer by. Sent to prison to await sentancing, Mary is raped by the prison guard and falls pregnant. Shortly after she is sent to serve out her sentance in Botany Bay. The journey is horrendous, appalling conditions, near starvation and disease drive the convicts to dispair. ...HOMEWARD BOUND I am writing a review on the Disney Movie Homeward Bound - the Incredible Journey. THE DVD COVER The cover of the DVD is very appealing, it is a picture of three animals walking, with the sunset in the background. Very scenic and beautiful. I really like the choice of DVD cover the used, it let's the audience know that the story is about these animals without mentioning them. As the title does not give away the storyline. The STORY ITSELF This movie is about the thrilling experiences of three animals - Chance, Sassy and Shadow when they are separated from their owners, and decide to make their own way home. These three incredible animals express their feelings throughout the movie with real human voices. They encounter a lot of different events in their journey, but they all stick together and keep going... Read review

This extrordinary film was nominated for 3 BFCA awards, 1 grammy and won the hollywood film award for best supporting actress (Susan Sarandon) More... ^^^^^^^ Told in a semi-narrated way, the story tells us more than any other about the thoughts and feelings of the characters, whilst still managing to show us the incredible story, filling us with happiness. Filmed to a superb soundtrack, with the best props and setting imaginable, this film could set the standard for future 'incredible journey' film. The Extras ^^^^^^^^^^^^ The DVD contains subs in plenty of languages, as well as photo-galleries of the main characters, 2 trailers and other extras from the film. With easy to navigate menus and audio options. the Elizabethtown DVD is as good as any other.... Read review
