The Inbetweeners series one DVD
Rating: 18 (Reason- sex references, swearing and some violence) Running time: 138 mins approx Extras running time: 53 mins approx Subtitles- English H-0-H Aspect ratio- 16:9 Colour- PAL Region Code: 2 Written by Damon Beesley
Heat- "Hilarious...It's like the anti skins; buts is equally great *****"
The London Paper- "Brilliant..The inbetweeners nails disappointment, frustration and friendship perfectly"
The times- "Very, very, funny"
Do you like skins, peep show and the office? If yes, then this is the DVD for you. The inbetweeners is a comedy with plenty of swearing and witty sarcasm.
What is the inbetweeners all about? The inbetweeners focuses on a group of four teenage lads growing up. The story stars with the geeky know it all character by the name of Will (played by Simon Bird) who has just moved from a posh private school and moved to a local comprehensive school, due to the fact that his parents divorced and his mum can't afford the school fees. Will gives out an impression of being a geek from day one, as he carries around a briefcase and gets called various names because of this. However this doesn't stop his, because he quickly makes friends with three other lads Jay (played by James Buckley) Neil (played by Blake Harrison) and Simon (played by Joe Thomas) Unfortunately for Will they aren't the coolest kids in the school even though they do try. The episodes follow the four lads as they try and become known, by attending parities, trying to get with the ladies and to most importantly try to get noticed. Over the course of the school term the boys have many encounters including: -Hitting a Disabled girl with a frisbee -Gate crashing a funeral -Being sick on a seven year old boy and many other funny and cringing events.
What extras are on the DVD? As well the 6 half hr episodes there are other special features including: Audio commentaries by the writers and cast Video diaries from the four cast members The making of the documentary Meet the cat (what the boys are really like) Deleted scenes
These are all defiantly worth getting the DVD for if you enjoy the channel 4 program, plus these extras last for nearly and hour and are as funny as the episodes themselves. However I recommend watching these DVD extras after you have seen all the episodes, because you know what the characters are like which in a weird way makes it more funnier.
my thoughts- I was introduced to the Inbetweeners by a friend, who showed my one of the new series episodes which are currently on UK TV. I didn't have high hopes as I hadn't heard much about it or seen any advertising. However I thought id give it a chance, and after that very episode I went online and bought it straight away. It had me rolling around on the floor laughing at WIll's geeky character, Neil the dumb and clueless friend, Jay the boasting yet witty one and Simon the hopeless flirt.
Where can I buy it? I have found ASDA, amazon and Sainsburys to be the cheapest shops to purchase from, at a price of around £7.
Conclusion In my opinion and im sure many others, this has to be the best british comedy of 2009, and im sure it will win many awards. So if you like the show or like what iv written, I wouldn't hesitate, just go out and buy the DVD. The DVD is defiantly worth watching because you will want to watch it over and over again. Plus you get the opportunity to watch all the extra features which are also very witty.
5 stars out of 5 stars
Thanks for reading.
