The Inbetweeners is an excellently written British comedy which, to date, has had one series which was broadcast on E4 and Channel 4 in 2008. It has been recently announced that a second series will be filmed and broadcast in 2009.
The show focuses on a group of four teenagers dealing with life at a secondary school's sixth form: Will McKenzie (played by Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Jay Carthwright (James Buckley) and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison).
The series starts with Will's first day at his new school. He previously attended a posh private school but has had to move schools due to financial problems his family is facing. He struggles to fit in as he is too geeky to be cool but not geeky enough to be a nerd (hence the name of the show).
This is a more realistic view of teenage life than other series that seem to be more popular (Skins) and I'm sure most of us have been in or seen some of the events that occur during the series take place. For example, Simon manages to get himself invited into Carli's (a girl he fancies) house and he manages to throw up over her little brother (I actually burst out laughing at this).
I found this whole series very very funny. The cast are great, I expect them all to be successful in the next few years, especially in the comedy genre.
The dvd of series one was released inJune 2008 and is a must-buy for anyone who has a remoste interest in British comedy.
