The programme follows the lives of 4 boys who are 17 and in the process of sitting their A levels. It is narrated in parts by Will who has moved to the new comprehensive school from a private school. He was being bullied in his last school and it is not hard to tell why. He wears a blazer to school and carries a brief case. He is very posh and likes things to be done the ‘proper’ way. In a word – he is a nerd!
On arriving at the school he attempts to make some friends. There are 2 other ‘nerds’ who start at the same time but he doesn’t want to be friends with these so he befriends a group of 3 lads called Jay, Neil and Simon. At first they don’t like him, but as time goes on they realise he isn’t that bad and they become the best of friends.
It is called the Inbetweeners because this group of guys don’t really fit into any of the groups that exist in a school. Will is the posh nerd, Jay thinks he is the school stud and has bedded most of the girls. Neil is the dumb one who doesn’t always understand what is going on and Simon, is most respects, is quite normal.
In the beginning of series 1 Simon passes his driving test so most of the lads adventures involve the freedom of driving around.
What makes this programme so funny is that it is so true to life. I spent most of my school days at a girls school, but the last 4 years I did go to a mixed school. And it was exactly like this. It shows the highs and lows of being a teenager – skipping school and getting drunk, dealing with the embarrassing parents (or in Will’s case – the Mum that everyone fancies) and the stress of trying to get a girl.
The programme can be quite graphic at times with obscene language (especially when Jay talks about girls) and some scenes of nudity. There are also some very cringe worthy moments including when the 4 of them decide to help out at an old peoples home in order to try and impress a girl.
At the moment there are only 2 series’ and I am not sure if there are going to be any more. Unfortunately they only last for 30 minutes and there are only about 6 episodes in each series. I hope they are going to make more, but if you haven’t seen it before then it is definitely worth watching.
Advantages: Superb comedy, tackles real teenage issues, absolutely hilarious Disadvantages: Episodes not long enough, not enough episodes in a series, very rude
The Inbetweeners is an English comedy show revolving around four teenage boys. They aren't in the popular gang in their school sixth form but neither are they in the geeky group, hence the name 'inbetweeners'. The show sees these average boys going through their lives with all the usual teenage worries and how they cope with them, including the panic of getting a girlfriend and losing their virginity, being let into the 'cool' guy's party, getting ... ...(Simon Bird) ~ At the beginning of the first series, Will is just starting out at a new school (a comprehensive one - much below his usual standards of his old private school), having moved due his parents divorce. He is a typical geeky lad - wears glasses, tucks his shirt into his trousers and, worst of all, carries his school books around in a briefcase. This makes him the perfect target for the school bullies to pick on and he gets labelled as ...

Advantages: A refreshingly new show to E4 Disadvantages: Not enough episodes in a series, not for the easily-offended
I've read many reviews of the Inbetweeners on Dooyoo, and whilst some of them are great, many of them do not seem to really capture the essence of the show. For a start, it's not a show to take 100% seriously. There's a lot of cringe-worthy scenes, goofing around and lots of rude stuff that might make you go red if you're watching with your parents! There are some controversial parts of it, and loads of laugh out loud scenes. Because of the 'assumed' ... ...and arguing how the Inbetweens are 'copying' Skins... well let me tell you why the Inbetweeners is ten times better. The main characters comprise four teenage boys: Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, played by Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison respectively. The gist of each episode is that we follow the foursome's lives, through their school troubles, dating dilemmas, family issues... with each of their goals being: a) sleep with a ...

Advantages: Hilarious, Orginal, Acting Disadvantages: Series not long enough
As you probably know the first series was not advertised much and because of this not many people watched it when it was first aired, including me. I was recommended 'The Inbetweeners' by a friend and I'm so glad I was.
The show is based around a group of four teenage friends struggling through sixth form college. The name 'The Inbetweeners' come from a social class of teenagers – people who are not cool enough to be popular but not geeky enough ... ...between.

Funniest show on telly (News Of The World, 07/05/2009)
Hilarious [...] AMERICAN PIE mixed with PEEP SHOW (The Guardian, 07/05/2009)
DVD Description
Combine the juvenile smut of SUPERBAD with the cringing embarrassment of PEEP SHOW, against the 'stylish' backdrop of GRANGE HILL, and what do you get? E4's hilarious comedy THE INBETWEENERS. A super sharp, one-liner packed celebration of the highs and lows of being a teenager. Perfectly capturing the relentless disappointment of suburban adolescence, the show's four main characters yearn for sex, booze and cheap thrills, without the emotional maturity, money or ID to get them. Briefcase-carrying nerd Will (Simon Bird) has recently left the relative sophistication of private school to join Rudge Park Comprehensive, where he befriends Simon (Joe Thomas), Jay (James Buckley) and Neil (Blake Harrison); a group precariously straddling the social gulf between the in-crowd and the outcasts. This release contains the complete first and second series.
