The Ride Of His Life
Review of The Hitcher (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by sghawken

Advantages: A masterclass in how American horror can be scary
Disadvantages: None

...one side of America to the other. Halsey having carefully catalogued the trip has travelled quite some distance and encountered some of the harshest desert plains. But one very stormy night all is forced to change when Jim picks up a hitch hiker. Jim is immediately concerned by John Ryder's rather disturbing attitude. Ryder is a very quiet man but the words he uses issue an immense feeling of terror. When Ryder's words escalate to a more intense ...
...from his car launching onto the road. Thinking that all is past him Jim reclines back into a relaxed but bemused mode and continues on his journey. Advantages: A suspenseful film with some great extras
Disadvantages: None

...Halsey is falling asleep at the wheel, so when he sees a hitchhiker on the side of the road he decides to go against his mother's advice and pick him up. Ryder forces Jim to speed past an abandoned vehicle at the side of the road, and this sparks Jim to be suspicious of his passenger. As a result he stops the car and asks him to ...
...Ryder explains that he killed the driver of the abandoned car and tells Jim that he is going to do the same to him and holds a knife to his throat. Jim manages to succeed in forcing Ryder from his car and drives away, thinking he has escaped from danger. However his connection with the mad hitcher has only just begun... Whereas other movies take this kind of urban legend starting point and turn it into a bland horror movie, THE HITCHER instead becomes ... Read review

The Hitcher
Review of The Hitcher (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by willyham

Advantages: The quality of the film
Disadvantages: The special features arent that great on the DVD

An excellent film, the build up of tension fom the beginning to the end leaves the viewer on the edge of their seat right up until the climax at the end. The film is not only brilliant due to its awesome direction but also due to the brilliant acting seen throughout. The emotion of the characters draws the viewer into the story, allowing the horror and suspense to be filled right up until the point of their demise. the cold calculation of the hitcher ...
