legendary Italian goalkeeper but you cannot take into account the effects of a dodgy takeaway meal a dropped bottle of aftershave on a goalkeeper's toe or the fact that your most creative player has to leave town because of a chance drunken encounter with another player's wife. It is these random moments that have shaped football as much as the headline-grabbing Cantona kung fu kick and that Russian linesman in 1966. Along the meandering paths of this witty alternative history of the world's most popular game you will learn: * Different sizes of football were used in each half of the inaugural World Cup Final of 1930. * The first England defeat was not that famous 6-3 home defeat in 1953 by Hungary but was in Madrid against Spain back in 1929 (4-3). * After penalty kicks were introduced in 1891 the Corinthian Casuals goalkeeper would stand idly by his post to allow the ball into his goal unhindered such was the stigma of conceding a penalty. From the height of international football to the scandal of the Conference league Christmas party that cost far more than a bar-bill Colin Murray tries his best to make you believe once more in football's unpredictability.

I have been let down far too many times when buying football DVD's. Why is it so difficult to make a definitive DVD charting the rise and rise of the beautiful game? This tries, and fails to do this; trying to squeeze the history of football into under two hours of action is similar to trying to rewrite the bible on the back of a stamp. There is far too much to cram in to justify such a title - The history of football is by far the broadest title possible for such an illustrious sport. Theres the odd world cup game here, the odd FA cup final here, but it flies through decades of momentous action in minutes, rather than the hours it would take to justify the films billing. And the distinctly English pespective (narrated by the distinctly annoying Alan Green) means that those St. Georges specs are applied to deciding which games make the cut and which don't. This hardly makes the entire package worthwhile 'A history of English Football' make have been an altogether maor accurate title.
To save yourseves time, attempt to get a copy of FIFA's history of the world cup 1930 - 1998. I'm not sure if it is still available, but it contains 5 discs, each over 3 hours long providing a truly awe-inspiring world cup extravaganza.Still the best DVD I've ever bought, and at £6.99 the best value too. However, you may have to make to with FIFA's new single disc effort. Believe me, 'A history of football' should be done for misappropriation. Avoid.
This is a sports soccerdvd review called golden goal's.
Starring many players throughout Chelsea's history as a Soccer club during the television era. Contained on the dvd are one hundred and sixty two goals on a random selection basis There later is a top twenty goals scored section. I guess that some of them were amongst those considered the greatest scored by chelsea football club. Having watched this, it is hard to disagree with the producers of this dvd overall.
Presentation wise it is entertaining to watch from a chelsea supporters perspective. Some really amazing goals naturally have been scored over the years. The dvd also highlighted a number of players that I was previously unaware of including Jon Spencer, and lesser known players or not so well remembered players. More signficantly enough, the dvd goals combined ...
Advantages: The 1997/98 Season Review is included for free Disadvantages: The 2001/2002 review is poorly put together in places, only recommended to Arsenal supporters
Arsene Wenger's Red & White Army is an essential purchase for Arsenal fans. The DVD contains a full review of one of the best seasons in the history of the football club, the double winning season of 2001/2002 and is an enjoyable viewing experience.
The DVD does however have its flaws. At regular intervals throughout the DVD we are given a Premier League table to look at and a commentary to explain the state of affairs at the time. During one of these segments, the commentary is non-existent, so we are left staring at a premier league table accompanied by music. Really poor editing.
The main presenter of the DVD also has some cringe-worthy moments, but in general he is decent.
The DVD comes free with a bonus program, "Boring, Boring Arsenal" which is a review of the 1997/98 season.
Other special features include a trivia game ...
