After watching ''the hills have eyes'' last year and really enjoying it i decided to go out and purchase the sequel recently ''the hills have eyes 2'' on dvd. The film cover alone tells you that it should be just as gory as the first and i wasn't expecting any less from this film!
The film is directed by Martin Weisz and the screenplay was actually written by Wes Craven and his son Jonathan Craven (Wes Craven was the writer and director of the original version in 1977).
I thought at first that the film might follow on from the first but, it doesn't connect with the first at all really - it's just adequate enough to know from the end of the first to know that not all the mutants dies so therefore they manged to live on! The opening sceen is of a women giving birth to one of these mutants whilst she is tied up which is only the start of some of the gory scenes! The main part fo the film follows the military as they are investigating the area that has been abandoned in the remote desert hills. As the mebers of this troop are killed and become uncontactable, the trainee troops go in on a kind of 'search and rescue' mission. When they arrive and can't find the other troops they set about looking for them with terrible consequences.......
There is lots of scenes that as usual in horror films, make you want to shout at the tv ''don't be stupid!!' but obviously they will be anyway!!! Lots of sickening scenes from beginning to end but i can't decide wether the first film was actually better or not - i think this depends on the person as they are both great gory films.
The cast are as follows:
PFC david napolean(napoli) - michael mcmillian PFC amber johnson - jessica stroup PFC missy martinez - daniella alonso PFC crank medina - jacob vargass PFC delmar reed - Lee thompson young PFC mickey elrod - reshad strik PFC stump locke - ben crowley cpl. splitter cole - eric edelstein sgt. jeffrey millstone - flex alexander Hades - michael bailey smith Hansel - david reynolds Chameleon - derek mears Stabber - tyrell kemlo Letch - jason oettle Grabber - gasbar szabo
To be honest - i didn't recognise any of the characters immediately as from any other films i had seen but, they probably have been in other films maybe even well known films!
overall this film is made for those who like to watch blood scenes and pushes the audience to the edge of what we our normal thresholds are - if you like the first then i think you'd like this installment - however maybe don't expect too much from the acting skills of the charcaters - don't get me wrong they were good - i just didn't think they were amazing. The other thing about the second film is that it's just more of a ''lets see how much gore an blood we can pack into a film'' kind of attitude, whereas the first film had a bit more story to it and you got to know the family who were being attacked. A peice of interesting information which i would never have even clocked onto without somebody telling me, was that the guy who plays Hades in this film, also played the charcater of pluto in the first film - i guess the directors can get away with things like this as the mutants are done up to be disfugured anyway so not many people would notice the same actor playing two different characters! I certainly didn't and was only when my brother told me i looked it up and realised it was true!

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.

Great review, but I think this film is too scary for me.
Advantages: None at all Disadvantages: The whole thing
