Normal, everyday people who no connection have all seemingly turned into psychopathic monsters, killing anyone who gets in their way.
It turns out they do have a connection, in that they all become inhabited by an alien with a penchant for violence and Ferraris. Will Beck and Gallagher be able to stop the alien before yet more lives are lost?
I bought this because of a recommendation on a forum I visit. I don't think I'd heard of it before, but I'm willing to give anything a try. After watching "The Hidden", I thought it was Ok, but not as good as other films that have been recommended to me.
I thought it was rather slow in places, with too much focus on the two cops not really doing anything. The music was a little off as well, e.g. they were using very tense music where nothing exciting was really happening. Maybe the scene they were using it in was supposed to be high on tension, but I just didn't feel it.
The ending I wasn't keen on either, it felt like a bit of a cop out. There were good moments though, the chase scenes with various sports cars were exciting, and Nouri and MacLachlan seemed to have a good chemistry together, I just felt it was lacking something. I realize I'm in the minority here, as a lot of people loved it, but I just couldn't get into it that much. I still think it's an above average film, still worth 3 1/2 stars and would recommend it for any sci-fi action fan, or indeed anyone who likes chase scenes with sports cars like Ferrari's and Porsche's.
Advantages: Fantastic film for all the family Disadvantages: Subtitles, but are easy to keep up with
Ang lee's finest piece of cinema is now avalable on DVD. This was the winner of numerous academy awards and Oscars for best forgien film. In it's first week of release it grossed millions of dollars across the world. The plot of the film is very well structured with a very easy to follow and pick up half way through story. The charaters are very beleivable in the time that the film is set. The graphics, action sequences are excellent with a good lot of sword play all the way through the film. Martial arts fans will be loving it from start to finish, that's not to say it will only interest them. This is throughly enjoyable film for all the family, althought some of the younger viewers may find it hard to keep reading the subtitles and watching the film. All in all an excellent film and a worthwhile purchased to watched again and again. ...

Slightly tentatively although with good reason, I decided to buy the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon DVD on the back of several excellent reviews, various Oscars and an excellent offer in the local video shop. With my only previous knowledge being an absurdly drunken affair culminating in the video of ?Crouching Tiger, Hidden Penis? I was right to be somewhat apprehensive this time round. However I?m glad to say now with abject derision that Ang Lee?s masterpiece is clearly nothing to do with crouching nakedness ...
Advantages: It's a vaguely interesting experiment in naturalism Disadvantages: Excruciatingly boring
hard to care about the character. It is so brittle and highly-strung that you'll want to slap her as she works herself into frenzied hysteria. The performance is neatly summed up by her chic wardrobe, liquid eyes and permanently clenched jaw. She may look polished on the outside but the inner turmoil is clear. Perhaps her turn in the early stages of the movie is too subtle, as her freefall into breakdown feels too abrupt.
"Hidden" was an immensely disappointing viewing experience for me. I was expecting a taut thriller and what I got was a slice of unappetising art house Euro-cheese. Less stereotypical chin-stroking and more suspense would have helped to at least give the film a solid genre to diverge from. There are only so many pregnant pauses I can take in a film and this exhausts them in the first five minutes. The direction is ...

As law-abiding citizens mysteriously go on looting and killing sprees, an LA Cop learns from an alien masquerading as an F.B.I. agent that unfriendly aliens are inhabiting these innocent Earthlings' bodies. A surpisingly inventive and witty film.
